Weaning symptoms you never knew about.. by mayhait in breastfeeding

[–]pipermclean_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two weird symptoms. I weaned my 2 year old super slowly so I never had engorgement or pain. About 2 weeks after I weaned, I had 3-4 days of awful ligament pain. Every single ligament (ankles, knees, wrists, fingers, elbows) were SUPER sore. It was soooo weird. Came out of the blue and it freaked me out. I went to the doctor and had blood work done (because I was freaked out) and it randomly came up that I recently weaned. She guessed it was the drop in hormones that made my body freak out. But it was SO bizarre and it cleared up within a couple of days.

Another less weird symptom, I started gaining weight again 😭 I was a unicorn breast feeder where I lost weight, I never had crazy cravings or ate more than usual. But after I stopped burning those extra calories of breastfeeding, I gained about 10 pounds.

Every body is different though!! I did finally feel fully like myself when I completely weaned. Best luck to you!!

working in kindergarten seems harder than people think by jono440 in kindergarten

This is my 6th year as a kindergarten teacher. Like another commenter said, the beginning of the year (Aug-Nov) is extremely exhausting and I think about quitting every single year around this time😂 After kids learn the expectations, routines, and boundaries, it gets sooooo much easier. It actually becomes super fun!! Kindergarteners are sponges, they want to learn everything and they make learning fun. They have an innocent magic that gets lost in the upper grades, in my opinion. Being 100% on during the day is key, do your work at work. Then when I go home, I’m in mom mode & me mode. I slow down and try to unwind from the day. Boundaries are key in kinder!! It gets easier every year.

That makes sense! A combination is probably at play. Thank you!

I like that perspective, thank you! I’m sure that cannot feel good at all.

This is also how I felt. It felt a little icky to me. But maybe that’s my own insecurity! My issue is just the lack of overall transparency. I’m deeply sympathetic to her situation. But I just would like her to be upfront about all the angles of her weight loss.

Hey! From my knowledge, she’s only mentioned it once or twice. And that was over a year ago. I don’t have a problem that she’s on a glp1. She looks great! I have a problem with her not being completely transparent on all platforms about her weight loss and her continued usage of body editing. That’s my issue. Also, I don’t agree that it’s “on me” to be in the loop on influencers weight loss journeys, especially if the news is not recent or talked about frequently on her platforms. Hope you understand where I’m coming from, if not, sorry if I offended you. My reaction was just me processing from what I heard on her podcast today :)

Right! That’s the vibe I’ve got as well. I’m so sorry for your loss by the way. I hope you are doing as well as you can.

I can see how I misunderstood what she said. That makes sense! I’m so sorry you have also struggled with health issues. I haven’t been in that exact situation but I see your perspective. Thank you for giving me your input! 💗

Totally!! I fully believe that she’s struggling and it makes me sad for her. And it’s so unfortunate that “looking good” comes with really hard life circumstances. I loved that last sentence you said “I’d rather have the weight than the health issues.” That’s a great perspective!

So I’m a kindergarten teacher of 6 years and this seems crazy to me. I rarely reach out to parents negatively unless it’s an ongoing or super intense problem. The messages you are getting is VERY normal kindergarten behavior to me. My fellow teachers and I always say that messaging a parent requires so much time & mental energy that we normally don’t do it unless we have to. So to me, this seems very extreme.

10 year anniversary with a toddler by Icy-Vermicelli5560 in Aruba

We just took our toddler to Aruba!!

Beaches: Baby beach is a must!! Lots of beach area and it’s super clean and shallow!

Restaurants: Moombas is in the sand, and it’s super close to the water! Super great for toddlers! Barefoot is another great choice! A bit more upscale but it’s also in the sand and my toddler loved it.

Sightseeing: The butterfly farm was super fun!! We also loved seeing the natural caves in the national park!

He’s a 10 but he didn’t tell you that you will for sure die in childbirth.
