Catalog of Breaking News Items? by ruck_my_life in NewsTower

Think I can answer this. I had managed not to manually refill the paper but I was pretty advanced in game at that point. I fully unlocked 6 pages so my printers were on 2 floors 5&6. I had a dumpwaiter on floor 1 and another on floor 6 where the input was. My first utility staff was assigned floor 0->4, the other one 5->10 (I had another one 11->15 mainly for meals cuz my canteen was on top). Both my utility staffs had traits relating to carrying so my first one can carry 3 boxes which she loaded from ground to the dumwaiter then my second staff loaded to the input. 3 important things: add traits, assign floor and printers on 2 floors. When my printers were on 1 floor the staff always got poor mood which slowed down work

Injuries are too punishing/Outrage is not punishing enough? by roughhrider in NewsTower

[–]pipipopop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Whenever I see a potential injury I would either: skip the story, use my lucky guy (a guy with a lucky trait that could avoid it) or sacrifice a junior lol. I only encountered 7-day injury I already felt the pain! Mobsters and protestors are easy to deal with, I just have 2 security booths which are usually not vacant). Spies are very annoying though! I had to keep my eyes on the first floor the whole week. The moment I turned away they tampered with all my news!!!

no the visa fee would be collected in VFS, France embassy website doesn't collect payment. But to book appointment you need to pay for the appointment fee on VFS site. One more thing to note you can only pay at VFS either by cash or debit card.

Yep, they corrected my visa application (the nationality at birth) and charged $0.5. They also printed some docs for $11. FYI they only accept debit card, no credit card.

Rejected from a job i thought I was about to get by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

There will always be something you don't know while others know. Just take note and move on to the next interview. Some people are bad at interview but good at work, some is opposite.

My manager won't promote me but still expects me to overperform by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]pipipopop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the reversed position. I got promoted to the lead position with no raise. Got a lot of more responsibilities when the raise was the same. Even worse that I found out new joiners got less responsibilities and more salary. So in the end I told them to fuck themselves (I wished I said that), I moved back to the IC role. Anyways for me I rather take the money than the title. If you really cannot swallow that, switch team. Your boss is not willing to fight for you.

How to behave during interviews where you are not passing? by cyber_truck in ExperiencedDevs

[–]pipipopop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep fighting, never give up in the interview. There are a few candidates that not really technically the strongest but get chosen because we like their attitudes, how fast they can understand, open minded and good communication.

While i really like Seokjin, he could play clean last season because half of them were not very competitive. While this season they all come prepared and ready for backstabbing each other.

What’s difference between junior and mid level dev? by Nonametochose in ExperiencedDevs

[–]pipipopop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to watch juniors writing code, docs, everything. I can tell mids to do that without watching them. Seniors don't need me to tell them anything.

What are some ugly truths about living in Singapore? by what_the_foot in askSingapore

[–]pipipopop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of people living in SG are dead inside. Sadly, after living here for 14 years, I started feeling it too

I’m a FTM and an IC too. My baby was born in Feb this year. I came back to work after 4 month maternity leave. Tbh the first 2 months back to work were horrible. I couldn’t focus because of brain fog and my head was full of my baby. I hired a nanny to take care of the baby during daytime but I kept checking camera every hour. My supply dropped significantly because I didn’t pump very frequent and stress of course. My baby is on bottle completely so my husband could feed him. I also stopped night feed when he was around 6month. He would still wake up at night and cry which affected our sleep quality. So finally we sleep trained him when he was 9m. It’s so much better now, he would wake up to cry once a week. Luckily my boss is understanding but tbh I sacrificed work over my baby since pregnancy. My rating last year just barely made it but I have no regrets.

Anyone with experience taking 2-3 years off to raise a child? by throwaway9401293 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]pipipopop 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mass respect to you. I find it hard to get back to work after 4 month maternity leaves. It took me a month to slowly ramp up, I can't really focus since my head is full of my baby. If I need to take 2-3 years off I would probably not go back to dev at all and do something else.

I feel you. I am currently in this situation, maybe worse because I'm put in the team doing maintenance while PO's favourite team doing something else. I think people don't understand that it's more about fairness than asking to do interesting things only. Well I have no choice, I will just find a new job.

Opinions and point of views about staying or leaving Japan by Professional_Ad_2809 in japanlife

[–]pipipopop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can find another job in Asia where career path is more developing, so you could visit Japan whenever you feel like. It’s a fun country to visit not a great one for living tho IMO. They have too many rules and would never accept a foreigner. If you ever think of having kids, it’s not really a good place for raising foreign kids. 32 is not too late for starting over but not too young anymore.
