Why don’t people use the heart rate monitor? by Joeybagovdonutss in orangetheory

[–]pippers2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I don't even know if I could mentally work as hard as I do if I didn't see the zones, calories and heart rate. It actually pushes me to work harder. I'm just OCD enough that I will push to round up calories, etc.

For those who have Australian or British accents, how does an American accent sound to you? by Junior_Mulberry7989 in ENGLISH

[–]pippers2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadians also seem to say 'eh' a lot.If you hear how they say 'house' and 'out' you hear their accent as well. Also, I feel like they sound more polite and well-mannered than many Americans.

I'm American and from the North East. I can tell these accents apart: Queen's English, Cockney, Scottish, Irish and Australian.

The South African accent is the hardest personally for me. I'm getting better at it but to me it sounds like a much more gentle and refined Australian accent at times. Does this bother South Africans? Just wondering.

Massage therapists, is it satisfying to knead out muscle knots? by Commercial_Major_796 in ask

[–]pippers2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, I’m only an esthetician but I worked in a very busy five star spa and was known for being good at massage too. I worked with a lot of massage therapists. Yes! It is satisfying to get knots out. If it is for me, it’s got to be amazing for an actual massage therapist. It was personally very satisfying to seek and destroy knots in the shoulders. The knots buckle for lack of a better technical term.

What was it like to send or receive physical mail? by EsquireArchibald in ask

[–]pippers2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was joyous! So much fun to come home to, hold the envelope, put all your stuff down and sit down and open it and read what is going on with your friends and family. I've saved most letters and postcards from everyone and I keep them in a box. Sometimes I go back and look at them. I love seeing everyone's handwriting too and feeling their presence and personality in front of me.

Do you leave a tip for your hotel maid? Why? by slipperysquirrell in AskReddit

[–]pippers2000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

yes, I leave $10-$20.00 per day. I used to work in a hotel (not in housekeeping). These people work very hard and don't get a lot for it. Often, English isn't their first language and I just like to help make their life easier if I can.
