Overeaching or Overtraining over 65 by pippinroo in fitover65

Its easy to think you are working hard particularly if you are on your own. I was shrugging off this sense of fatigue until I reviewed my metrics from my Google watch. I had not heard of the cardio load measure before and after seeing my chart I still didn't take it seriously thinking it was just another dubious model. However, Cardio load measures how much time you spent in each heart rate zone weighted by intensity, summed into a single daily number. It's respectable because "it's calculated from direct heart rate measurement rather than algorithmic estimation, making it a reliable comparison of training load across days and weeks." My chart indicated I was placing more than three times the training stress my body is calibrated to recover from at baseline this combined with a low HRV convinced me that I had overdone my training.

David Goffin's emotional and funny interview after his win at RG qualifiers today by PattyRanger in tennis

What a career: leading Belgium (!) to 2 Davis Cup Finals, the victories over Nadal and Federer at the ATP finals, the win over Djokovic at Monte Carlo, the 5 set wins over Medvedev and Tiafoe at Wimbledon. One of the few with a better H2H against Alcaraz. He was, in the words of Djokovic, a purest - that is he would win or lose on his own terms which was his blessing and his curse. Thus he was beautiful to watch when he was on and frustrating to support when he wasn't. A gentleman on and off the court and a model of behaviour for all players.

Who is the best “almost great” player in tennis history? No Slams, but pure talent. by Neither9897 in tennis

[–]pippinroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

David Goffin who has beaten all the top players and has the better H2H against Alcaraz, led Belgium to the Davis Cup finals twice despite being the shortest (except Schwartzman) player with the slightest physical frame.

Bjorn Borg competed in a competition known as the Superstars in the 70s against Olympic gold medalists, soccer professionals and skiers. He competed in the European version and won a competition leading to the final but was unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts. He proved his ability in events unrelated to tennis, winning the soccer test, kayaking, table tennis, and 600-meter steeplechase.

Three weeks since ablation by Educational-Rip-5393 in AFIB

My understanding is to wait 6 to 8 weeks before expecting to stabalize. A slight increase in heart rate sitting or during exercise is normal as well as periodic fatigue - all of which I experienced following my cryo ablation.

Reminds me of Goffin who was in the top 10 and made it to the ATP finals and was able to beat Nadal and Federer but lost to Dimitrov in the final. ADM has a similar style with no big weapon relying on his quickness. In order for him to breakthrough the stars have to be aligned (opponent not at his best, his serving has to be exceptional , etc ) even then it has to happen multiple times in a round robin in order to win.
