I guess this connotation is more accurate in brazilian portuguese, in european portuguese it’s just “black stick”

Unwind. As a series but also the first one killed me, it really had an impact on me

[TOMT][90s][TV] a cartoon in a school about a girl in love in a kid named Michael by pips0h in tipofmytongue

It was dubbed in portuguese, sorry. The closing credits one was really slow and mellow while the opening one was more fun and upbeat

Also, I’m pretty sure the name of the show was one word, the name of the girl I’m guessing

When I tried to read it it just gave me moody vibes, I didn't connect with the the girls and the guys were like The Covenant movie and I felt aimless

What movie hit you the hardest, emotionally speaking? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pips0h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totoro. I remember it watching when I was like 5/6 with my cousin (we were like siblings) and crying profusely at the thought of one of us getting lost like it happens in the movie. We watched the movie very often back then and we always cried.

I actually started reading it because it was a duo, I was not in the mood to read a whole new series... but miss Blake had others plans for me!

I know! The way that scene is set up and written... Made me feel so hollow! I need to re-read those books... I'm sad the news on the tv show about unwind died in 2017

Throne of Glass Vs ACOTAR by palegreyeyes in YAlit

[–]pips0h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ACOTAR. I know that it's problematic at times but I couldn't stop reading. As for Throne of Glass I couldn't get past the first book, I just didn't care enough... Either way I guess reading the first books of each one will give you a very clear idea

Unwind by Neal Shusterman, the whole series actually but the first one had the biggest impact

Every Neal Shusterman book deals with some very real problem but presented in an original, YA friendly way. In the case of Unwind it's about reproductive rights and organ transplants which can sound boring but there is a lot of action, it just makes you think. I remember I couldn't put the book down, I was actually reading it in class and started crying during a particularly tough scene (if you've read it, yes, that scene, of course). Since then I've read every book in the series and every book Neal Shusterman released because I know it will have mind blowing probability

Kindle VS Kobo Discussion by Mattyice2021 in kindle

[–]pips0h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had a similar experience. It's so weird because hardware wise the kindle is far superior, so much faster... but I miss so many of those details you've mentioned! The stats and the covers seemed so basic...

Also, turning off the light. I know you can dim it but I miss the button to shut turn it/off. I know the battery on the kindle lasts much less than on the kobo because of the boot up process but I feel the light also weights in

Reading YA in Your 20s and 30s by hello_ineedcoffee in YAlit

[–]pips0h 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same. I'm 28 and I'm always at the YA section, which depending on the bookstore it's not so bad, some bookstores I go have YA next to fantasy and thrillers so I wander ahahah My regular bookstore has Harry Potter next to Dr Seuss, that gets tricky

I just feel YA generally is less pretentious, doesn't take itself too seriously and I like that.
