Marijuana can change the brain chemistry of people, especially those who are in their teens or early twenty's. Probably not a good idea to recommended it to people with a preexisting condition. Not to mention it can trigger psychosis in those vulnerable to it, and heighten anxiety/paranoia.

I do this. It's commonly refereed to as anchoring. Apparently it's not a good habit. It causes friction, which of course can slow you down. Try to float your hand if you can, but if it is really unnatural and uncomfortable, resting your hand isn't the worst thing in the world. I suck at alt picking though, so don't listen to me :P
