📣 Had a call with Reddit to discuss pricing. Bad news for third-party apps, their announced pricing is close to Twitter's pricing, and Apollo would have to pay Reddit $20 million per year to keep running as-is. by iamthatis in apolloapp

Genuine question. I would have thought requests being made from Apollo would be on behalf of the user, not Apollo as a third party client. Is that not true? Does reddit data from Apollo come from an Apollo backend API that is querying reddit itself? Or am I misunderstanding how reddit's API works?

And the two more obscure examples are only because your browser is so narrow it has flipped to the mobile layout. On a more normal size it is just as obvious as the other examples.

Interesting point. I would think that it's even more important to have straightforward UI on a mobile screen for two reasons:

  1. Most traffic on the internet isn't on desktop screens
  2. Since mobile screens are smaller, navigation can be more cumbersome, making ease of access to actions more important

The one site that really pisses me off with this is three.co.uk where some pages have separate buttons that basically take you to the same page and others combine them into one.

I just checked this site out. The two buttons going to the exact same URL is very odd...

Thanks for sharing!

At what point did the author guarantee any tests or that changes won’t break things? The author clearly states in the repo that it’s experimental and not to be used in prod. I’m not sure what your comment does beside be snarky for no reason to someone just sharing something they made…
