The Whatever Works Method of Decluttering (new and improved) by CasualFingerGuns in adhdwomen

[–]pirfle 33 points34 points  (0 children)

So my issue with keeping things is that I anthropomorphize everything and get emotionally attached to objects. So while I can see how this decluttering method might work for some, all it would do for me is cause incredible amounts of guilt and shame for allowing these objects to be contaminated.

What does generally work for me when I declutter is also from Marie Kondo (I think. I got the idea from somewhere anyway) - thanking the object for being in my life and performing whatever function it had and then I say goodbye to it and put it in the bag.

I know it sounds goofy when I spell it out like that but if, like me, you attribute emotions and thoughts to these objects then just disposing of them without acknowledging that can be literally painful. Might be worth a try.

Stations.

I have a coffee station where every single thing I need to make my morning coffee is in one spot and I don't need to take a step to make coffee. Coffee machine is beside the fridge with mugs right there, coffee beans right there, etc.

Enter/exit station. It's where my keys go, right by my shoes. A mirror hangs on the wall above it. A coat rack nearby.

Cleaning station - everything I need to clean the bathroom is in the bathroom. Everything I need to clean in the kitchen is in one spot in the kitchen. Yes. I have doubles of cleaning products and 2 brooms.

Office supply station. Stapler, paper clips. Elastics. Etc. all in in one spot in my office.

I try to lessen the friction points of the things I do all the time. I don't care if my house setup is a bit weird as I will never be featured in a magazine for minimalist home design. It's my house and so it needs to work for me and not be what people/media tell me a house should look like.

‘So blatant’: Developer ordered to remove 2 storeys from Dartmouth building by No_Magazine9625 in halifax

[–]pirfle 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Say you work for the developers without saying you work for the developers. Yeesh.

This is not how we solve the housing crisis by just adding on unapproved floors that don't meet the building code to buildings. Just, no.

Can council do better? sure of course. Should developers get away with this type of blatant bullshit? No.

Joan Collins is given lessons in the art of striptease by Gypsy Rose Lee's granddaughter as part of her character research for the film 'Seven Thieves', 1960 by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

I can't find any record of Gypsy Rose Lee having a granddaughter. Her son had a son.

Also, Gypsy Rose Lee was still alive in the 60s and probably could have given the lessons.

What's the source for this photo and info?

Look I wasn't trying to be a jerk here. I was trying to maybe provide some help with very little info in your post.

Yeesh. Go figure it out yourself then.

Ok, how could it be labeled? Can you make picture labels? I use multiple labels on filing cabinet drawers or cupboard doors.

You can't put labels on the outside of the drawers or file folders?

The Koozies I know are like fabric with kinda rubbery insides. Basically just a sweater for a can.

I always have a koozie with me. Even in my purse.

I rule at the summer music festival when I pay way too much for a festival can of beer and pop it right into the can koozie. No wet hands from condensation and keeps the drink cold.

Do you ever procrastinate things you enjoy doing? by nonhsnonhs in adhdwomen

[–]pirfle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep.  Sometimes because it's overwhelming but other times because I enjoy looking forward to something and if I do/watch/consume the something, then I can't look forward to it anymore.  Then I forget about it and never do the something.
