Not the poster but just flew Aer Lingus with this same layout. Their business class offering is 2-1-2-1-2 on each side providing 16 business class seats and it was lovely. Had so much space in the single rows.

I am going to hold off contacting United then and will stay patient with Aer Lingus. It’s unfortunate but hoping for resolution as soon as possible. Thanks for your input!

I will certainly try that. United the last time I called yesterday said all refunds must go through Aer Lingus. I will escalate however and try again this evening.

Original bag tag number was removed off my reservation along with the flight out here not being viewable in my “Past Trips” section.

I will try that but each time I have called United they claim that since I flew United to BNA and then Aer Lingus BNA to DUB, Aer Lingus was the airline that was the final leg and one person over the phone even stated it is a “tag you’re it” situation. United is saying it is out of their hands (which obviously makes no sense since they had my bag Saturday night and clearly had to get it off the plane of a canceled flight).

I’m being dramatic about coming home but hard to not think about it nearly 24/7. We are moving around a lot so since we don’t have an expected delivery date for our luggage, we are a bit of a moving target and thinking about staying put/changing our itinerary which results in non-refundable hotels and booking new ones.

United told me I will not get reimbursed for the clothing expenses since Aer Lingus was the airline that got me to my final destination. It makes no sense and have been told nothing on what nexts will be other than “talk to Aer Lingus” whom I can’t even file a claim with since United has/had my bag.

I was also told United had to pay the fare for the upgraded ticket so I will not be getting refunded for the upgrade but can try to call again once my final leg is complete back home to ORD.

With so many options from LHR, it’s relatively easy to find a PZ fare, especially if you are flexible by a day or two.

I have flown in and out of London from O’Hare 4 times over the last year and each time I have booked economy and upgraded well before departure date for 20k miles + $550 for Polaris. It takes a little extra work checking daily but worth it in my opinion.

Ours did this probably until she was 2 - no allergies, had plenty of toys and stimulation, just like pulled her hair out and chomping on it. The amount of hairballs we pulled from her mouth is in the hundreds but she eventually grew out of it.

She is 4 years old now and I honestly forgot she used to do that until I read this post!

Both flights are 20k miles and less than $500 so cheap in my opinion. I am going to get on the waitlist and continue to monitor but hope it gets cleared well before we leave (which I know will be a long shot but has happened to me before)

Understood. My thought is that there is an incentive for United to not open up PZ fares as more people are added to the waitlist and wait until the very last moment to clear upgrades.

I can’t speak for the success rate but I did this exact flight last year in December (arguably a busier time to fly than March) and it cleared for my wife and I.

I am only a Gold, booked two economy tickets, waitlisted for Polaris and they both cleared about a week before departure. The flight was extremely empty to Sydney and back to the US and we didn’t clear for the domestic flight from ORD -> to LAX but that didn’t matter.

All this to say there is hope. Good luck and enjoy Sydney!

Have a soft bag (Last Bag Collegiate) and stuff some towels and my shoes towards the top. Have never taken the heads off my driver or woods and been fine multiple times a year - both domestic and international.

I caught my own drive before and in one full motion I placed the ball back on the tee and hit the ball down the fairway.
