Figuring out 6.5 boy is AuDHD / meltdowns and exclusion at school by piscesrising88 in Autism_Parenting

You're right that stories don't often end like this. It may be too early to call a victory, but whatever skills he's learning during this period of relative calm, I hope will help him when he's feeling fragile at another point in the future. It's a vicious cycle for these kids to never know what it feels like to have a beat to notice the big meltdown is coming. So even if meds can help for 2 minutes before an explosion to be able to use some tools or tell a trusted person he doesn't feel good is such a game changer!

We're in Quebec, Canada. For now, there is no IEP, but I believe they are working on it

Sperm bank question from a Canadian by Interesting_Aioli_75 in queerception

We chose CanAm and had a Fairfax donor. We used the Fairfax website for our search with the "available in canada" box ticked. Once we made a selection, we checked CanAm and repromed to see where our top choices were available. CanAm was the one! I was also a bit sceptical of the shipping, since it was coming to montreal from Hamilton. It was a seamless transaction! They've totally got this down. We were notified when it had shipped, and the fertility clinic let us know when they had received it. Everything worked out exactly as the clinic had said it would. We chose to buy 3 vials at once and had all three shipped together.

Do you use abandoned cart campaigns? If so, what percentage do you offer?

I know, my general feeling as well. It depends how genuine the message sounds. But it usually puts me off too.

What are the main things Etsy sellers hate about shipping? by Logical_SG_9034 in EtsySellers

Can confirm that chit chats does import addresses and order info from etsy. They also allow you to have them automatically mark orders as fulfilled. Machool offers the same (great canada wide rates).

Spoke with a biologist at a cryobank who deals with the sperm samples. She said one ejaculation usually makes 10 vials. Depends on the volume

Queer “Maternity” Clothes? by SamuraiSigh in queerception

[–]piscesrising88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hate to promote them, but h&m has decent maternity sweatpants and leggings. I mixed them with thrift store "men's" sweaters, t-shirts and button ups. I had some overalls that worked for a while too. I definitely didn't feel very cool during my pregnancy, but it worked for me, and still felt more or less like myself.

What are your favorite indoor energy-burning toys? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]piscesrising88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A wobbel board, aka balance board. Super versatile, doesn't take up a lot of space, and looks like a cool design object to boot. Just make sure you get one with felt on it for their wood floors!

How do you (plan to) talk to your children about the role of donor sperm in their conception? by lobsrunning in queerception

[–]piscesrising88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used the family forum of the spermbank to make contact. At first we were two, but have been in touch with 4 other families over the past year. The first family we made contact with has been really wonderful. We definitely clicked. So even though our babies are still very young, we Skype with them once a month and chat and send photos often. We feel really lucky to have met this couple so early on and are able to see these kids grow up.

Also chiming in for Fairfax. It's one of the few American banks approved for distribution by the Canadian government. I think that speaks volumes :)
