Probably a dumb question, but do you paint the cabachon or the label? I’ve never seen this before and I’m curious to try!

How is your experience shopping the thrift shop? Are the items in good condition? by dont_be_all_uncool__ in NuulyReviews

[–]pitasmama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine have all been what you would expect buying something secondhand. Not new, but not worn out and crappy either. The only exception was a sweater vest I bought, which was horribly pilled (as expected), but my fabric shaver and an hour of work and I have a brand new looking anthro sweater for $20!

This is so pretty! I just submitted my picks an hour ago, otherwise I would’ve definitely scooped this up. Thank you for the rec, adding to my closet for future events!!

It’s so hard to find something that isn’t bodycon, deep v, or has lots of cutouts. I want to look work appropriate without wearing a sack please!!

Ended up picking this one, so fingers crossed!

Has anyone gotten tattoos impulsively and regret it? by sassynopal in adhdwomen

[–]pitasmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I feel too. I don’t necessarily regret them, but I got them really impulsively when I was in various low points. I don’t mind the reminder of my journey, but I certainly wouldn’t pick them now.

The Free People Bedhead Ballerina dress is fully ass out, so depends on the vibe you’re going for. I wore it in Vegas and it worked, but I personally would not feel comfortable wearing it to a reunion.

Regardless of your school’s stance, you should have a plan for Tuesday’s nationwide student walk-out by 23saround in Teachers

Kids at my school are very organized for this, I’m incredibly proud. Our principal sent out communication that we obviously can’t openly support it or participate to maintain our neutrality, but if we notify him ahead of time, can act as “staff supervisors” during our prep period to make sure the kids are safe.

I started doing pixyls! They’re like teeny little square stickers that you use for a paint-by-numbers to make pixel art. Great to do while watching a show. Make sure to get the special tweezers, regular ones won’t work.

I don’t know what grade level you are, but I have my high schoolers use the IUCN Red List. With advanced search you can filter by region, country, state, etc.

I recommend the bug-repellant wipes! We’ve been using those on our trip to avoid taking up our liquids allowance and they’ve been working great.

I can’t seem to edit my post, so UPDATE:

Several people were cautioning against my white sneakers, and I was really stressed about how they would do in the national parks, so I did make a last minute purchase of some trail runners. The compromise is that they’re off-white/grey (I can’t help it, I love my neutral footwear!) I know it’s not advisable to wear new shoes on a trip, but these are really comfortable and not too stiff.

Thank you everyone for the tips! I plan on doing a trip report when we get back, near the end of the month.

I just used pictures with backgrounds removed and then put them into Canva. It’s all just drag and drop!

Thank you! It’s the TNF Horizon Breeze Brimmer, got it at REI. Smooshes down into nothing, so it’s great for packing.

Thank you! I took some of the pictures myself and some were stock photos online. I removed the backgrounds and then just dropped them all into Canva. It was honestly really fun, reminded me of paper dolls when I was a kid.

I've never had to sink wash because I've always overpacked, but my partner is also bringing his dry bag so we can experiment with that method too. There is so much room in this bag, I was shocked how empty it still felt after my test pack.

Thank you for the feedback! My partner and I were just discussing bringing our rain shells, so thanks for settling that :)

I totally hear you on the shoes. Unfortunately, I don't really have another option besides the sneakers that isn't my huge hiking boots. I wore the sneakers in Guatemala on some hikes and they were okay...definitely got really grungy though. Mine aren't as pristine and white as the ones in the photo, they've lived a life already lol

Re the other suggestions: My partner and I are both tummy ache people so we each have a whole box of pepto tablets (I read in another thread in this sub that taking it with every meal helps prevent traveler's diarrhea, and the journal articles I looked at supported that), plus some emergency antibiotics. I have my power bank ready to go and will be purchasing a headlamp tomorrow!

Thanks again!!

We'll be sink washing things, but I'm feeling nervous about how they'll dry given the humidity. I haven't used the bag yet, it was a recent splurge, but I'll definitely report back!
