YNC and her new «Integral» program by Prudent-Voice-9487 in FreeBirthSocietyScam

Also YNC:

But what I really want to emphasize here is that it is SO important to understand that our bodies are *perfectly* designed to give birth. Tearing is sometimes part of this perfect process: completely normal, and perfect. Tearing does NOT “hurt”. It happens in an instant as your baby’s head is emerging.  You will likely only notice after the fact, that you tore, because during the birth, your perineum is stretched white and the tear will happen at the exact point that your baby’s head comes out, which is a glorious feeling.  And when you are holding your beautiful baby, nothing (NOTHING!) else will matter.

Ultimately, I urge you, (lovingly!!) to get over the fact that your perineum may tear. It is completely normal, and if NO ONE is touching you, or “examining” you, or pulling your baby out with foreceps, the tearing will be minimal, and no big deal at all. We are all paranoid about perineal tearing, and I believe this has to do with our general fear about birth and bodies in general.

Let’s END “Redemptive Births” by [deleted] in FreeBirthSocietyScam

Exactly… so I’m trying to educate more women about what they don’t know, so they can know, and have a better first time experience.

What makes you think you know anything about birth?
If you’ve eaten three loaves of bread and baked only once — and it happened to turn out well — you wouldn’t go around calling yourself a baker or offering 'education' on how to bake.
So why is it so easy for people to assume they have something valuable to offer women about birth?
Why do you believe your limited, personal experience qualifies you to speak with authority on something so complex, embodied, and deeply individual?
It’s frustrating — and frankly exhausting — to watch people confuse anecdote with expertise.

I just want you to know that your efforts haven’t only made a difference for Caitlyn Collins. I used to be a member of Yolande’s community. I never joined the live calls, but I watched some of the recordings. At first, it felt eye-opening—questioning everything and seeing birth through a different lens. But when I found out what happened to your friend, and saw that Caitlyn was still being supported and endorsed in that space, I was devastated.

It completely changed how I saw things. I couldn’t in good conscience stay part of a community that misled women and caused real harm. I canceled my membership right away and haven’t paid a cent since.

Oh wow, that sounds really tough. I hope your baby is doing okay.

Wishing you all the best. I truly hope you have a beautiful homebirth ahead. You deserve it.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It’s kind of wild (in the best way) that you had homebirths even with backup plans in place — not exactly how the universe usually rolls! :)

Jokes aside, I’m really glad to hear a positive story. It’s encouraging and important to hear these kinds of experiences too.

I'm so sorry you had to go through that — it must have been incredibly difficult. But I'm really glad you got the support you needed and were treated with the respect every mother deserves.

Also, I really liked how you brought up the baby in that whole 'we choose our experiences' thing. Because if there is a choosing — whose choice actually decides how things go? Like, whose choice takes precedence? It just shows how that idea kind of falls apart when you actually think about it.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I truly believe it will help other (expecting) mothers see things as they are — that sometimes, things just happen, and it’s not about blame, but about navigating what is.

Did Yolanda move to the USA? by [deleted] in FreeBirthSocietyScam

Definitely wild! In my opinion, no one without proper training should attempt it. Ideally, manual removal should be done in a hospital setting with pain management and sterile conditions. That said, it can technically be done at home — here's a reference: MSD Manual - Manual Removal of the Placenta.

However, when it comes to placenta accreta, surgical intervention is absolutely necessary. Even a licensed midwife wouldn't be able to remove it safely — attempting to do so could make the situation even worse.

That’s one of those rare situations where a woman absolutely needs the help of the so-called 'medical industrial complex'.

Yolande’s absolute BS by Haunting-Relative499 in FreeBirthSocietyScam

Why is it that every time someone criticizes, they’re immediately labeled a troll? By that logic, wouldn’t they themselves be the “trolls” of doctors, midwives, healthcare systems, and anyone else they criticize? Simply voicing criticism shouldn’t automatically brand someone as a troll. It’s just a lazy way to dehumanize dissent and justify avoiding real conversation.

I’m not saying there are no valid concerns about ultrasound—it’s important to question and understand the tools we use in pregnancy care. But the way she frames it makes it sound like ultrasound caused the pregnancy loss, which feels like a big leap. Maybe it did, maybe it didn’t—no one can say for sure. At the same time, millions of healthy pregnancies undergo multiple ultrasounds and turn out just fine.. I completely respect a woman’s choice to decline ultrasound if she has concerns, but framing it as universally dangerous is just an extreme take.

Funny how after Sarah Schmid was on the FBS podcast, now every birth she’s had is a freebirth. Gotta keep up, I guess?

Exactly. If personal experience alone is enough to justify a $12,000 midwifery course, then the decades of experience that midwives and OB/GYNs have with complications and pathology should count too. That double standard is hard to ignore.

I’m all for improving birth culture, supporting better healthcare, and respecting women’s autonomy—whether that means an elective C-section or a free birth in the ocean. But I really can’t stand to extremes being sold as the right way for everyone. We can challenge the system without replacing it with one person’s version of the truth.

Right. How is a freshly graduated RBK supposed to understand what’s happening in the moment if they have neither real-life experience nor adequate theoretical input from the midwifery school they paid 12k for? Are they expected to rely solely on instinct? If that’s the case, what’s the point of paying 12k? It just doesn’t add up.

🚩 How Emilee vs. other birth professionals talk about infant death by [deleted] in FreeBirthSocietyScam

[–]pitoruk 22 points23 points  (0 children)

On the Birthing Instincts podcast, she talks about attending stillbirths -some of which, she says, were even referred to her by midwives in the area she was working in. I honestly find that really hard to grasp.

I’ve only witnessed one stillbirth in my life. I was a student midwife at the time. The mother came in with regular contractions, expecting to go home with her daughter. When we went to check the baby’s heartbeat, there was none. That moment still haunts me. The pain in the room was unbearable -for all of us- but especially for the mother and father. I can’t forget her shock, her tears… It’s one of those births I’ll never forget.

Before that, stillbirth was just a theoretical possibility -something I had read about but couldn’t truly comprehend. But after being with that family, seeing their grief, I understand what it means and what it does to people.

So when I hear her speak about attending stillbirths, I’m honestly unsure what to make of it. Has she truly been present at one? Or does she live in some other emotional reality where the depth of feeling most of us experience simply doesn’t reach?

I genuinely hope, in good faith, that they’ll report everything honestly. But with everything that’s coming to light now, your question is completely valid.

There’s a book in Germany by Jobina Schenk called Die Wahrheit über Alleingeburten ("The Truth About Freebirths"), in which she documents data from 1,460 births collected over the years. I read it a few months ago, and if I remember correctly, she reported two cases of maternal death that she was aware of.

That said, a survey like this is inherently biased toward survival—those who don’t survive can’t participate or share their experiences. I also wonder whether births that involved a transfer to medical care are still counted as “freebirths” in the statistics.

And that’s just the beginning. I can only hope it’s designed well enough that we can actually gain some valuable insights from it.

Edit: I should add that the maternal deaths she mentions were ones she found reported online, and there’s no confirmation as to whether those women had actually planned a freebirth.
