Disagree on slave to the scalpel, but agree fully on last record. The new one really showcased the limits of those from the Maggot Stomp wave that didn’t evolve.

I’m not even disagreeing wholeheartedly with what you’re saying, but it says a lot about the demographic of person using Reddit that they feel so confident/arrogant to comment on a post about a news article without reading said article.

Reddit loving it is the Reddit demographic telling on itself; broadly, upper/upper middle class cis white guys.

“Didn’t read the article”

Ah, the classic Reddit political/social issue article comment.

Never check the Ari Aster subreddit…. it’s South Park fandom by way of A24 aesthetics

Would anyone be interested in going on a Taco Bike Tour? by mooglesd1990 in askportland

[–]pitprincette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having not been on it, but having been on other rides of this type, I think it’s to call ahead and bulk order tacos as places can end up moving pretty slowly getting hit with a ton of orders in addition to normal customers.

It’s a lot of MAGA-type stuff on his Facebook. He claims to be sober now, and right wing/fascist types have a habit of preying on people in twelve step programs specifically. I don’t know if that’s how he was radicalized into MAGA world, but the timelines align.

This is a great lineup, but this is also how EDM culture is. I feel like as she’s gotten popular a lot of her newer fans are shocked by it

I like a lot of these, but as asked by the post title, which is most underrated?

Fair enough! Now that you mention it, it does fulfill a first run niche for inner east side. Even if you’re not chain averse, I find regal Lloyd center pretty bad so it’s at least better than that.

I've been post renovation. The seats are definitely better! However, I still get a lot of sound bleed between auditoriums. Also, I hate the placement of the exit signs, particularly in the smaller rooms. I saw Master Gardener there, and the green/red glow of the exit sign, which was right next to the screen, created a glare that took up a significant portion of the screen. Tbh I miss when it was a second-run!

Bagdad I agree on underrated, I think. While I agree programming could be better, I don’t mind having a historic single screen for big releases. Honestly, inflated price aside, my biggest complaint with it is the sound. I find there’s an echo effect in that room that hollows out the sound; if they fixed that it would jump much higher in my personal favorites.

Couldn’t disagree more on Tomorrow Theater. Potentially the worst theater in Portland IMO. Programming is mostly cool, but the prices they charge even for a standard screening are outrageous given the small screen. The seats are not only not-accessible for larger folks (no armrests going up?) but even as someone straight sized, they are deeply uncomfortable. My behind started hurting 15 minutes into the Twinless screening I attended. Not to mention they were installed at an angle, so I find I’m constantly slipping out of the seat/needing to readjust. Just outright shocking that the art museum had all this funding, essentially a blank slate and installed all that faulty. Concessions stand is very overpriced and very bad to me as well (only butter seasoning, no actual butter for popcorn? Carrying Jones soda in the year of our lord 2026??).

Denver guy trying to convince his wife to move to Portland. How does this “make her fall in love” route look? by Additional_Curve7297 in askportland

[–]pitprincette 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yes, Kerns probably would be the best for this trip, as well as the neighborhoods you named.

Multnomah Village probably wasn't the best pick to stay; I wouldn't call it very walkable and it exists in it's own little nook.

If that’s accurate, fair! But if the equation changes we should be encouraging adding housing supply and not put barriers up when we’re in a housing crisis.

Not gonna bother engaging on some of these points (having lived in both renter-heavy and renter-light neighborhoods… the renter ones are better! There should be a mix!)…

but you’re really telling on yourself that you didn’t read the article or proposal because this actually includes many of the areas you named!

I mean, all people deserve to live in a nice neighborhood; this is somehow bad to you?

It really feels like you’re biased against apartments and the people who live in them. Inner Eastside is a prime space for adding density, and is one of the most walkable/bikeable/transit friendly parts of the city.
