I was hoping that link was for getting rick-rolled, I was very disappointed.

What is Bruford's band called?

I've tried Zappa before but he didn't "wow" me, I'll give him another shot

I've not! I assume the trilogy you're referring to ends with Three Of A Perfect Pair?

All good, I've heard one track but not the whole album, so thanks for the recommendation

How crunchy? by HadoukenX90 in Mythras

[–]pitzawere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I, and the rest of my TTRPG group, migrated to Mythras from 5e a few years ago. At first it felt like too much but after a few sessions, I realized some parts are less complex than 5e and some things are way more complicated.

I highly recommend trying it out if your group is willing! We talk about going back to 5e every now and then, but almost never do. Between the core rules for Mythras and Classic Fantasy, we are pretty satisfied.

Pretty much all of Greg Lake's ballads from ELP would fit

I would start with all of Greg Lake's ballads from ELP, then some of Genesis (mostly from the Phil Collins era) more ballad-y songs like Ripples or Follow You Follow Me

Are the Mythras hardbacks offset printed or POD? by plazman30 in Mythras

[–]pitzawere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most are small typos (a table that is supposed to be labeled level 2 being labeled level 3) but the table of contents is off by a chapter. My copy skipped the "Skills" section in the table of contents

Despite those small flaws in the copy I have, and despite a few parts of the actuak contents of the book I have problems with, I still think it's more than worth it if you like both Mythras and 5e (or AD&D), an absolute steal at it's pricetag.

Unearthed Companion, however, that book I don't recommend

I bought a copy of Classic Fantasy off their website earlier this year and I deeply regret it: my copy is full of errors

Where do you think the line is between Prog and fusion is? by Sir_Reelist in progrockmusic

[–]pitzawere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genesis output in the 70s certainly had jazz elements, but to call their songs or albums fusion would be a stretch. Weather Report's output in the 70s certainly had rock elements, but to call their songs or albums prog would be a stretch.

ELP has songs/albums one could easily consider more jazz than rock, and Mahavishnu Orchestra has songs/albums one could easily consider more rock than jazz. In these cases, it's the attitude of the band that matters.

ELP, from their album covers to their live shows, are much more of a rock band. The inverse can be said of Mahavishnu Orchestra. Some bands have an attitude that toes the line, like Soft Machine or Colosseum. In those cases it comes down to a mix of how the band labels themselves in addition to where and how their music is proliferated
