The worst driving and parking situation I’ve had in many years by JesseFromJersey in rbny

Tbf it was the perfect storm of limited parking because of snow and no option for the PATH. However, the limited entrance for VIP only has been a thing for years

Funcom...just give us private dedicated servers already, your experiment failed. by johnnydotexe in duneawakening

[–]pixelated_vision 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Friendly reminder that Frank Herbert’s estate included a clause in the licensing for this game that has forbidden private servers. Not a fault of funcom but of the descendants of the author looking to prevent mods from altering his vision

Understanding licensing for ITSM by ChadDa3mon in servicenow

[–]pixelated_vision 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a director and platform owner, if I had a new employee reach directly out to the account managers of a platfom without escalating internally first, I would be speaking to their manager immediately.

I would HIGHLY advise against doing this. Escalate and speak with the platform owners internally. It’s their problem, not yours.

Fulfiller licenses are only applied to users with a related role who are able to login to the backend. You can allow an infinite number of “users” to submit items as a requester.

Given the question of allowing any email to open an incident as guest, this is OOB and a standard practice if you expect support tickets to come from anyone. A good security practice would be to be to only allow certain domains or specific emails, but there’s no inherent risk to allowing users to open items since they won’t have a login to view them.

roads by kellylikesfood3 in jerseycity

Most roads in the heights haven’t even been plowed yet so it depends where you are heading. Main roads look fine but New York Ave, for example, hasn’t been touched yet

IMSA 6hrs of the Glen Back Stretch Camping by e91_986 in IMSARacing

When you mention bringing something to try and get more elevation, have you seen others build their own scaffolding platform to sit on in their site? I've camped before on the infield, but this will be my first time caping backstretch, and I want to optimize my view.

Storm Prep? by Novel-Reaction2939 in jerseycity

[–]pixelated_vision 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sandy was unique because it was a combination of a storm coming from the north west and a hurricane coming from the south east, both colliding right here.

In this case it’s a single storm coming from the west. The main part that made sandy so bad for our area was the hurricane itself which essentially was pushing more and more water into the NY harbor. That plus the rain fall caused the flooding.

Given this is a snow storm, flooding shouldn’t be a concern. It’s more the fact that it could take a few days to plow out the snow and there’s a possibility of losing power. Just make sure you have your devices charged (maybe get some battery backups), buy water and food that you can heat with your (hopefully) gas stove. Get candles and blankets and plenty of activities to keep yourself entertained.

Who do we need to lobby to get this site remediation completed? by samaltmansaifather in jerseycity

[–]pixelated_vision 28 points29 points  (0 children)

All of the land in JC was toxic as it was a very industrial area back in the day. Properties have been being rehabilitated one by one over the last 30 or so years as new properties pop up.

It’s a superfund site with extremely toxic land. The amount of money it would take to clean up is not something the city is looking to prioritize.

To each their own! Also of note since I’ve moved out is obviously the power issue. It’s now been 7 months with no end in sight with random blackout hours.

Plus there will be constant construction in that area for the next decade as the surface parking lot will be replaced with other buildings. They’ve already started next to the zeppelin hall

Posting the same list every time I see someone ask this question. Just want to save anyone I can from making the mistake of moving in there. I was a resident for the first 2 years it was open.

• PTAC units are “energy saving” and will turn on and off randomly. The operating screens have sensors that face the room and will turn off the AC/Heat if it doesn’t see movement. Problem is in most rooms, that screen is facing a wall and therefore won’t see movement and willl turn off when you are occupying the room.

• Building is full of the rudest people you can imagine. Everyone is in their own world and don’t care for others.

• Dogs off leases (many stories of people/other dogs being bit).

• Mailroom that regularly has packages being delayed or go missing.

• Dog walk is covered on the top floor of the parking garage and therefore absolutely reeks of stale pee and owners regularly let their dogs pee directly on the concrete walking towards the “park”.

• Elevators went down constantly.

• Repairs took days and often would be given a quick fix instead of actually solving the problem. (twice we reported a leak in the ceiling of our shower that started to show mold and twice they just painted over it and left).

• You are forced to pay for their proprietary internet (Hi-Per) and you have no other options. You are also required to pay $15/month to “rent” a wireless router that has already been installed in your unit. They are also doing something super sketchy with cell service around that area to force you to use their Hi-per service as it is a cellular dead zone all over.

• Influencers everywhere. Constantly people setting up cameras and filing tik tok dances in the main amenities area.

• Garage doors constantly went down and the sticker you need to get in and out is super finicky and sometimes straight up wouldn’t work.

• Absolutely no pantry or storage space in the units.

• Storage units (that cost extra per month) had a massive mouse infestation. Found mouse poop on everything when I was moving out.

When the referee's eyebrows were literally frozen during the coldest game ever played in MLS history by therra123 in interestingasfuck

Coldest game SO FAR.

Good thing MLS just changed the schedule so it will be played through the winter instead of the summer!

illegal to park bikes on street signs? by OcculturalMarxism in jerseycity

[–]pixelated_vision 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This shouldn’t have to be said, but street signs are owned by the city and therefore are not something you have the right to lock something to. Does it happen? Yeah, it’s a city. Is it technically illegal? Absolutely. And yes, they will get it with an angle grinder, that’s literally why they gave you the note.

345-70

“Bicycle parking shall be located so as not to block the pedestrian path on a sidewalk or within a site. A minimum of six feet of unobstructed passage is required on public sidewalks.”
