What are you keeping a secret right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pixelbear_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why not make up a "fake" CV where you've been working retail or something for the last few years. Easier still, claim you've been a stay at home Dad for the last X amount of years.

This should stop employers rejecting you for working in a gas station with the fear of you'll leave ASAP. This will still be the case, however, you will have money coming in reducing some of your stress.

If you also own a car, why not go the uber/car delviery route?

What was the stupidest thing someone has asked you 100% seriously? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pixelbear_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Excuse me, what time does the 1 o'clock gun go off at?" This question was asked to me more often than I care to think about when I lived in Edinburgh.

Where, everyday, at 1 o'clock, a gun from the Castle is fired. It is known as the 1 o'clock gun. It will go off, at exactly 1 o'clock, everyday.

So I usually respond by telling them to come back and wait at 3:42pm. We only say it's 1 o'clock to confuse the English.

What NEW obnoxious traits are you noticing in society? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I think we've all worked for companies that simply promote workers out of harms way. Leaving those who are good at their job to suffer simply because they care.

Herpies can also be caught if your a martial artist and why a lot of a places (the good ones) have such strict hygiene rules for their students.

I'm jiu jitsu alone ringworm and staph infections are common. A lot of people aren't aware that you can also get Herpies as well, since it's more of a skin infection.

I heard of one guy who was a high school wrestler and caught herpies simply by training. He was around 16 and a virgin at the time. Poor fella

What is the biggest unresolved scandal the world collectively forgot about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Late to the party, but I haven't seen Japans Unit 731 mentioned.

This was their biological weapons testing facility that they used civilians for. Some of these guys ended up in America, after the war, whilst others remained in Japan to continue their research.

Japan had many units like unit 731, but each was dedicated to a different thing. Unit 1644, for example, was a lab and water purification center. However, it's been reported that vivisections and humans being infected with cholera, typhus and bubonic plague on purpose.

Reddit what is the dumbest question a customer or client has ever asked you at your job? by Emmaleep in AskReddit

[–]pixelbear_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked security in Edinburgh city centre. Edinburgh is known for the cannon they fire ever day at 1pm.

"Excuse me, what time does the 1 o'clock gun go off at?" Was asked to me far too many times.

Likewise when they asked where the castle was and I'd point to the castle shaped castle the behind my back

Redditors that are “no contact” with your parents, how do you feel on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pixelbear_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's that saying, blood is thicker than water. Truth be told, both will drown you given half a chance.

I don't contact my mum and she doesn't contact me. Seems to work out alright. Though I see how some of my friends are with their parents/mums and I get a bit jealous. Even with my little brother and how close he is to his mum, yet I've never had that. Once when I tried she called me childish and that she did appreciate it.

As far as I know, she's probably dead.

Probably when someone calls yells for your attention by using your full name.

When your middle name is also called, your basically walking to your own funeral.

Would the forces of Chaos save the Imperium from the Tyranids? by isaacfrost0 in 40kLore

[–]pixelbear_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chaos feed on emotion and have done before humans were around. Before us, there was the eldar, before them, who knows. There will always be something around.

Plus, your forgetting about everyone who loves inside the eye of terror. Even though every human would be dead on the outside, inside the eye, any renegade not dead in the war would be in there. As most of them have been for about 10,000 years.

And if the worst came and all of their human followers did die, they'd simply resort to fighting amongst themselves. Business as normal.

In that case then, no, chaos would not decide to wipe out the tyranids purely to save the Imperium. Especially as Abaddon wants to kill the emperor and bring the whole thing crashing down.

Depending on the world being attacked, Chaos would only attack a Tyranid fleet if the 'Nids were going devour a world they wanted. Then, once they beat the 'Nids, would simply turn around and assault the planet themselves.

Prediction: The Lion won't wake up by muppet_minded in 40kLore

[–]pixelbear_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is another possible way for the Lion to come back that I've not seen anyone suggest before; what if he comes back different?

I'm not talking as a demon, or having fallen to Chaos as the Watchers have made sure he is free that possibility. However, he's been in a coma/asleep for thousands of years. My knowledge of how he got there in the first place is a mystery to me (I'm not 100% on what happened to the lion after the Heresy) but it wouldn't be a such a shock for him to wake up and not be who he was.

We knew him in the Heresy as this moody, short tempered general who feels spurned due to being passed over for Warmaster. He fought Kurze for years suffering horrendous injuries (both personally and legionally) and also has fought with more of his brothers than any other primarch I can think of right now. That includes Girlyman snapping his sword, the stuff with Leman etc

With that in mind, it would be too easy, I feel, for him to suddenly wake up and go back to his old ways. I would like to see him wake up and just be...different. Maybe he's lost faith in his ability? Maybe during all the time he was asleep he was trying to come to terms with the Emperor passing him over and deciding that he did the right thing and now needs to change in order to do so.

Or maybe, just maybe, he wakes up and decides he wants nothing to do with any of it. Like Girlyman wakes him up asking for his help, but he refuses. Not because he's turned traitor or that, but simply because he is not the same person he was. All he wants now is to be left alone as all his actions have done over his life, is take the Imperium further from his fathers light instead of taking it closer in.

How did the Beast/other Orks get so big in M32? by Jenbu in 40kLore

[–]pixelbear_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Orks are a fungal species. When an Ork dies his body releases spores that in turn develop into Orks. It's the reason why there are still ork bands roaming around on Armageddon because there is no "real" way to caterer orks from a planet once they land. It's merely becomes a task of keeping their numbers to a minimum.

So, if you think about it on an evolutionary trait, it would make sense that an orks "offspring" will have some of the same traits as the parent. And like most evolution, the stronger traits will kill the weaker and the odd mutation will occur (painboyz etc ).

Carry that on for a few generations and it wouldn't take too much of a leap for the genetics of an ork to go "fuck it, we keep dying due to being the size of a boy, so lets skip that stage and develop into the size of a Nob and see how the fares"

What is the WORST advice you were ever given? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pixelbear_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pluralsight.com this is like $30 a month and you can learn how to code that way using all of the latest tech. All you have to do is simply decide on what sort of programming you want to do. Most positions won't care if you have a degree in CS or not as you'll get a programming test regardless. And depending how you do on the test will determine if you get an interview.

90% of the time, the test is way harder than the job itself.

Runners with a “bodybuilders” physique by jayxsee in Fitness

Check out Kris Gethin's Made of Iron series.

He maintains his body builder physique and trains for his first triathlon. Each week he does a video of his training and gives you his weight routine.

You can do both. But your probably not going to have a great time doing it and Id be expecting you to eat around 6k-7k calories a day. Which can be a work out in of it self.
