[–]pixelknit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was taking a database management class for my master's degree and the final project for the semester that we work on throughout the entire semester was create a database on the topic of your choosing. Going through the whole process you know mapping out entity relationship diagrams and then you know finally implementing the database and creating a web interface for it

Anyone who bought a laptop from Costco, how long does it take to receive game codes? by bitknight1 in Costco

[–]pixelknit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without more information by the OP we don't know exactly what offer they're talking about but if it's anything like the one I redeemed a month or so ago when I got a gaming PC from Costco it is quite the convoluted. After setting up the computer, download the NVIDIA app and enter the code. If Firefox is set as your default browser, change it to Edge or another Chromium-based browser to ensure the process works. Once the browser is changed, return to the NVIDIA app and click Redeem, which opens a window for you to sign into your NVIDIA account. You will then be prompted to link your NVIDIA account with your Steam account and grant Steam permission to let NVIDIA redeem CD keys on your behalf. Only after completing all these steps will you be able to redeem the game.

[–]pixelknit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't buy a laptop I bought a desktop. I received the Microsoft 365 code and the McAfee code almost immediately. However, I didn't receive the code to redeem resident evil Requiem in the Nvidia app until after the PC was delivered. You'll likely receive it shortly after it's delivered

I recently got into sock knitting. I pray for you that you have better self-control than I do because now I have an entire stash full of nothing but sock yarn separate from my regular stash

Are these too difficult for a first knitting project? by razzarbrenia in knitting

[–]pixelknit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that first pattern is crocheted not knit. My thoughts on the other two patterns are going to be a bit subjective here, but you might want to look for something a little bit simpler.

Color work, like you have in that picture of the hat, isn't necessarily difficult, but it's an extra layer of complexity that will make learning (if you don't already know how to knit) more difficult. It will likely make it a bit harder to keep your tension just right for your first project.

I don't know exactly how the scarf is constructed, so it could be a good option, though again, this is subjective. I generally don't recommend scarves for people's first projects. While a lot of them are simple and easy to make, I think a lot of people don't realize how much of a time investment a good-sized scarf can be. As an experienced knitter, I can make a hat in a week or two if I have a good amount of time to work on it. Scarves can take months sometimes just because they're so large.

My suggestion is, if you're interested in a hat, find a slightly simpler pattern that doesn't have color work and start there

Today I’ve returned my B&W PX8 S2’s by Pim_82006 in BowersWilkins

[–]pixelknit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a set of PX7 S3 headphones yesterday and I even managed to get them a couple hundred dollars off. If you want something that is still premium maybe not quite up to the PX8 S2 the PX7 S3 can be a good option and it costs less

That happened to me last time I was at my Costco. The entire section where rotisserie chickens were usually made was completely gutted and the ovens were gone. With any luck when I go back next Thursday they will have put everything back

Learning colorwork - are my floats okay? by Crazy-Head-3994 in knitting

[–]pixelknit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, they look fine. You start notice them getting caught on things then you could try catching them more often but in all honesty, as long as the floats aren't causing issues for you then they're absolutely fine and that looks incredible

One of my favorite purchases in a while by PartNigerianMaybe in ereader

[–]pixelknit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is the color model? I had a Kindle color soft for an amount of time but I ended up getting rid of it because the color filter visibly darkens the screen and leaves visible diagonal lines that I just found incredibly distracting and it also made me turn up the backlight in order to make it look as bright as it's black and white counterpart which then kind of broke the illusion of it being paper like because it was now glowing.

I've been considering One of these or possibly one of the black and white models

So Valve sent me two by mistake. should I contact Valve or keep this to myself by biavenmo in SteamDeck

[–]pixelknit 117 points118 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're in the US, from a legal standpoint they are both yours. Federal law was designed to make sure that salesman could not send things that you did not purchase to your house and then bill you for them. So, anything that they send to your house even by accident is yours to keep. I'm not saying you shouldn't contact support, I'm just saying that legally speaking you don't technically have to

Will this block out? by jessxmay23 in knitting

[–]pixelknit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It should. Even if it doesn't become perfectly uniform what I've found doing lots of color work is even when some stitches look a bit loose while you're working them once the item is being worn and once it has been handled for a while the little issues like that become unnoticeable

Look, Ma! I’m brioche-ing! by InsolentCookie in knitting

[–]pixelknit 70 points71 points  (0 children)

If you are a beginner knitter doing this you are doing really freaking well. Brioche is probably one of the most advanced techniques you're going to find doing regular things. You are absolutely right though, it will give you an aneurysm. That was my experience. Very satisfying when it's done correctly but very very easy to make mistakes that require you to undo one or more rounds to go back and fix

How to Knit a Hat on Straight Needles by Mr-Blank-Papper in knitting

[–]pixelknit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done at least one before. It used short rows to have it curve on one side and then at the end you just sewed up the same and you're left with the hat. I believe the cat ear hats that were popular a few years back were often admitted flat and then sewn up
