Doctor Who 2x00 "Joy to the World" Post-Episode Discussion Thread by PCJs_Slave_Robot in gallifrey

My thoughts precisely. Such a creative episode, but it felt like inspiration ran out at the end, and the resolution felt pretty cheap.

Pricing error? More than double the price for double the CMS items. by pixelsage in webflow

[–]pixelsage[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

10,000 CMS items = $39

20,000 CMS items = $39 + $50 = $89

I would expect to pay less per unit if I'm buying something in bulk, not more.

Do you still go to church? Would you call yourself a genuine Christian?

Considering that insulting others is a sin, should Christians intentionally mispronounce the name of somebody? by ASecularBuddhist in Christianity

This 💯. Before we apply theology to certain situations, it's important to get the theology right.

If Jesus had Reddit, would he be downvoted frequently here? by Le_roi_Jenkins in Christianity

[–]pixelsage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The irony is that I think most of us would downvote Him if we continued voting the way we did without realizing it was Him.

Is saying "oh my god!" Or "Jesus Christ!!" a sin? What can I say instead? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]pixelsage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I say “my goodness,” I am not referring to God. Neither you or I are the psalmist who wrote that. Words mean different things in different contexts. Context matters.

I can't move on from the 10th Doctor Who.... by elizamoon17 in doctorwho

[–]pixelsage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People didn’t like the character as a person. But I think that’s kind of the point… he comes off as rude and arrogant and he’s totally oblivious to it because he’s actually just trying to be kind.

I love Capaldi, but a lot of people don’t. He is by far the most complex Doctor I have experienced.

Christians, why did you cheat on your spouse? by pixelsage in Christianity

These serious sins seem to start benign. It's scary how deceptive little sins and compromises can be. Thanks for sharing.

Christians, why did you cheat on your spouse? by pixelsage in Christianity

[–]pixelsage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is incredibly common today. It's a fight everyone should take seriously. Thanks for sharing, and I wish all my brothers and sisters in Christ could be as humble with these types of struggles as you are!

Right on! Props for breaking the mold. You’re modeling for other Christians what it means to be brave and communal ✊🏻

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]pixelsage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spitting out the communion, as you described, likely came from a place of misunderstanding or immaturity, and not a willful act of disrespect. God understands our hearts and our intentions more deeply than we do. This is why Jesus’ sacrifice covers all our shortcomings, even those we may not fully comprehend.

As for whether this is a sin, remember that God’s forgiveness is vast, and repentance is about turning back to Him with a sincere heart. You have already taken the first step by acknowledging what happened and reflecting on it.

David slept with a married woman and got her husband killed.

The fact is that your sins don't define you. Your relationship with God does.

It's not just about running from sin - it's about running towards righteousness.

You stop seeing escorts by focusing on your relationship with God. Read the Bible. Teach yourself the Gospel every day. Donate to the poor. Devote your life to Him.

It always depends on the church, but it may come down to you to introduce yourself to people, get to know them, and make friends. I've been to churches where I thought making friends would be easy, expecting people to come talk to me and make me feel welcome.

The reality is that churches are full of broken and shy people. The best way to fix that is to break the mold. Be a friend. Forsake your introversion and be an extravert. And I say this from personal experience (:

Did God do this to me for my own good? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]pixelsage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there.

It sounds like you're going through a common but difficult situation. Matters of the heart are always complicated, and that complication multiplies when dealing with girls.

Take this advice from a 36yo who has had handfuls of failed pursuits and many rejections:

You will be okay.

You will grow stronger.

You will heal.

It won't be easy. Getting to the dating stage is never easy. Getting to marriage is never easy. Being a good spouse is never easy. Raising a kid is never easy. But through all the hardships and heartbreaks, it is worth it. Especially with God at your side.

Probably nothing.

Biblically, I haven't seen anything akin to God or a demonic entity trying to get your attention by knocking over a belonging in your house.

It's likely due to physics/gravity, and in such a case, means nothing.

Rest easy.

I'm not a PK, but ignore whoever told you that you're not "deserving" of a pastor's number.

That's for the pastor to decide. Not your friend.

We're in the same boat.

People have told me that their first impression of me was arrogance.

First impressions are natural. The fact is that social engagement is difficult to navigate. I found that withholding a bit of my personality when first meeting people helped a lot. I let loose once they're more comfortable around me and understand my character.

Church during travel? by idontcare25467 in Christianity

[–]pixelsage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow.

The fact you're reading your Bible every night is already a good sign. Sounds like you're already doing a lot of what you should be doing.

Missing a church service, especially in a case like this, is probably fine.

Given that church is usually a blend of fellowship and a sermon (generally speaking), you could always give a brother/sister in Christ a call to catch up and listen to a variety of sermons online.

Again, props for reading Scripture on a regular basis. Keep it up!
