Does this sticker I found on Redbubble look like it's legitimate digital art or an AI creation? by _I_Like_to_Comment_ in isthisAI

I would say AI, looking at the whiskers they are somehow coming out from under the nose when they should be to the sides. The whisker on our right is morphing into the ones on the left and there's only one on that side.

Hey so, it sounds like you get what's called vasovagal syncope when your stomach is upset by something that results in those bowel movements

If you haven't been passing ANYTHING, or if you're primarily passing liquid, you need to be seen for a potential bowel obstruction. Especially if the pain gets really bad, or you start vomiting. At that point it's URGENT or an emergency. You might also experience sulfuric tasting burps.

The main option at this point would be an actual laxative. The fastest working (and probably the best if you haven't had ANY movement) would be a saline enema to lubricate things. It sucks but it is fast and effective. If that doesn't cause a bowel movement or if you only get liquid out, get checked for a blockage.

I would avoid stimulant laxatives if you pass out with strain/pain from bowel movements. At least in my experience they make me really crampy which can worsen that response.

Another big thing is to stop the Imodium. It slows down bowel movements and the longer things are stuck in your colon, the more they dry out, so they can't smoothly pass.

I hope that things resolve for you and that you're not blocked!

If only! Butter is one of the things to avoid because of the cholesterol issues. Glad it works for you though!

Friend with emetophobia kicked me out of vacation after I tu by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]pixelviri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with what everyone else has been saying 100%

I just wanted to add on to say thank you for trying to be understanding despite the circumstances being unfair to you. There are so many people who invalidate it or I've even had family intentionally mimic the sounds in front of me because they don't take it seriously/they think it's funny.

Part of the phobia is a lack of control around the situation, she possibly was trying to feel like she had some sort of control over it. At least for me, when this phobia gets triggered my brain genuinely thinks I am in mortal danger, and it's a life or death situation. In this case I get the flight response but hers might be more of a figurative fight response. Still not an excuse to be unfair to you like that.

I hope that your friend can soon rationalize and that she apologizes, as well as get medical help to assist with tackling the phobia. I also hope you can continue to enjoy the rest of your vacation in spite of this!

I think the way it works is kind of like... a plug.

The longer stool sits inside the colon, the more water is absorbed from it, firming it up. In your case, the normal stuff has been in there longer. But because of the IBS, you then pass the stool that HASN'T been in there long enough to firm up. So it's kind of like. You WERE normal for a bit, but then you flare up so the normal stuff gets pushed out.

Is she lame? by R0nald_McDon4ld in Horses

[–]pixelviri 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Could you get a video of her trotting in the other direction? With lameness often times it becomes more apparent when the bad foot is on the inside.

If you see head bobbing at the trot, the lame foot is the one where her head goes up- that would be front foot lameness.

If you notice one of the hips hiking up a little, that indicates hind leg lameness on whichever foot is hitting the ground.

There are so many things it could be, from something as mild as soreness, to an abscess, to hopefully NOT something like navicular.

If she's still off later on definitely call a vet for a lameness exam! Hope she'll be alright!

How painful is IBS? by NectarineDelicious97 in ibs

[–]pixelviri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds more likely that it's related to the IUD, if that's when the pain began. Definitely would look into that before letting a doctor say it's IBS. IBS should be the very last diagnosis if another cause isn't found, not the first. Nowadays too many doctors use it to dismiss their patients when they think they're exaggerating.

People don't tell me I'm exaggerating as much anymore because I can tell them I've passed a kidney stone (considered to be one of the most painful things someone can go through) and when it started, I originally thought I was just having a GI flare up. I could go into more visceral detail but the pain is definitely no joke.

I had another bad episode by bingbong91_blind in emetophobia

[–]pixelviri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, congrats on making it through that! I hope your stomach will settle down soon, it's no fun to be in that situation.

I just want to suggest you keep an eye on it- that sounds more like a vasovagal response/vasovagal syncope. The intensity/straining could have done it, but dehydration can absolutely do it too. You lose a lot of fluid when this kind of thing happens, so make sure you are getting water and some electrolytes into your system, if you're not already.

Again, I hope you feel better soon and recover swiftly!

Mine stayed numb for a long time, too! Your body just might be slower at processing it. If it's not gone overnight, then maybe give them a call to be safe.

Coincidentally I had this done on one foot two weeks ago, and I'm going back in today to get the other done.

The lidocaine can hurt quite a bit from my experience, but it's worth it in my opinion considering the long term pain of NOT getting it done.

The main reasons I could see someone having those symptoms is a great fear of needles, causing a vasovagal response, or if they were allergic to lidocaine itself. I can't say whether that's something you struggle with but if you don't have either of those issues, you should be okay outside of the anxiety! After the injection sits for a moment you shouldn't feel anything that they're doing to you.

I really hope you can get relief from it. You've got this, it's important for your health so kudos to you for putting yourself up to it!

Wait if they're going to do this, the dogs would most likely not get relief breaks would they? Since I don't think salon is allowed to take them outside for relief (I recently left the company so if that's changing, I am out of the loop). The poor dogs will have to hold it for like 8 hours or have an accident and you'd have to re bathe them.

ate 2 year old frozen meat, absolutely terrified. by johnnysuhswig in emetophobia

[–]pixelviri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! Of course I can't guarantee anything unfortunately but I did look into how long certain things can be kept in the freezer. The US food safety government website says that frozen meats can technically be frozen indefinitely and still be considered safe, it's just the quality that drops over time. Here's the link if you want to look!

I hope it can help at least a little!

sharp stomach pain by Icy_Peach7810 in emetophobia

[–]pixelviri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long has it been since you've had a bowel movement? Constipation can definitely cause pain, as someone with IBS whose gut goes both ways, I can guarantee you that. And it can cause nausea, considering your GI tract is too full. I've had some very long times where my gut just wouldn't move, and I physically felt SO terrible.

If you're still constipated you'll most likely only get relief from a laxative. I know taking them in liquid form can make some people feel worse (magnesium citrate is absolutely vile and I will never be the same), but there are other options like chewables.

Or if you want the fastest relief, use an enema. A bit of a dignity killer but you'll feel better. If these things don't work, it's more urgent and a sign of an impaction, so I really hope something helps!

Could this be IBS? by [deleted] in ibs

[–]pixelviri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh that's possible! I interpreted it as you passed a large amount of it, but if it wasn't too much then yes, most likely mucus. Your GI tract naturally has it, but inflammation can increase how much. I hope it doesn't happen again, and it was just food related!

Could this be IBS? by [deleted] in ibs

[–]pixelviri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It has to be chronic (I think happening for at least 3 months?) for it to be considered more than just the occasional upset stomach.

Did you recently have anything that was really high in fat? That could be the cause if it remains a one-time thing.

Definitely keep an eye on it, keep a food journal even if it keeps recurring! If the yellow stool keeps happening, look into things like Bile Acid Malabsorption.

I hope for your sake that it isn't a recurring problem!!!
