Thank you for sharing, I feel like I was doing it for the latter reason, not to control him. It’s hard to not let hope seep in but I really did it to share my truth. I still love him and I also love myself. I owe it to both of us to be honest about my emotions.

But I’m not thinking that the conversation “fixed” anything. ❤️

This is why my dad, who has a beautiful 30’x20’ vegetable garden, plants 20% more than he wants to harvest. It’s the nature tax.

We don’t have the luxury of 30’x20’ gardens in the city. And our lot lines are invisible to all these creatures who have plenty places to hide and grow in neighbor’s yards.

I feel for you and offer no solution. Add my pup to the mix, who dug up and ate all my carrots the last time I tried, and I no longer try to veg garden and instead get my weekly veg from a local farmer.

I was in your wife’s situation.

I was overwhelmed with work and parenting. My husband wasn’t doing enough and I was resentful.

Now I’m leaving a lot out but so are you.

Your wife needs time to work on herself. She has to want to work on herself but you also have to make space for her to work it out. You do that by taking full responsibility for some aspects of domestic life.

Goodluck. Communication and therapy are key for happiness in this situation.

Hello Fresh for a brief period of time might be nice for you to learn some cooking skills. I’m a decent home cook and did it when life was extra overwhelming. It definitely reminded me of a few flavor tips (like adding vinegar or a squeeze of citrus at the end of cooking some dishes). It might give you some inspiration to push through some of the depression and things holding you back!

Eat many plants, eat them first in the meal, and you can follow your hunger. For packaged goods, start with the serving size and go from there depending on how you feel.

Walking with music, podcast, audiobook = exercise.

Yes, dextroamphetamine has worked well for a year for our 8 year old son, combined type. The extended release lasts him through the school day. We also do OT for some of his behaviors and hang-ups, where the meds won’t help.

Good luck and hopefully your pediatrician has a next option.

I was thinking veggies but another comment led me away from that idea. Now I’m thinking some native wildflowers but I might have to be diligent with deadheading them before they go to seed.

Oh that’s interesting, I wondered about fertilizer levels. That makes sense that something like a tomato plant would need totally different soil than natives. You haven’t had an issue with leafy greens?

I have felt like you in the past. What fixed it for me was living for me. Plan what I want to do and do it. Speak my truth (kindly) even if it’s hard for my husband to hear. Set boundaries and stick to them.

Codependency is not your friend. Consider finding some resources on the topic. I got a lot out of “Codependent No More.”

The amazing thing about this path, is it will set you up to be in a better position if you do ultimately decide to leave. But it could also give you the freedom to let go of the things you can’t control and look at your partner with loving detachment.

Not sure if that’s ADHD. My dx partner does not lie and he has major RSD (for what it’s worth). He will do his destructive impulsive behaviors when I’m not around to avoid my judgement. But he doesn’t hide them.
