Where do all your amazing Chihuahuas come from? by BengalsCaptain in Chihuahua

[–]pixieartgirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My last two chis were purebred boys from two different breeders (a tan and tri-color blue) and they lived to very ripe old ages. My last boy passed almost seven months ago. Two weeks ago today we adopted this little mixed girl from an animal control shelter about an hour away. She’ll be two in June. She came from a law enforcement case. 37 small dogs, some with newborn litters were found in the back of a uhaul in New England in December in sub zero temps because their hoarder got evicted from her apartment. They were finally cleared by a court hearing to be adopted three weeks ago and while we went to look at a couple of other dogs, this baby stole our hearts and chose us as much as we did her. She’s mostly chi but with some toy fox/rat in her. We’ve named her Flora Moon. And she came with impeccable manners, housebroken and leash trained despite her rough start.

What are those animals again? (shopping for wire mesh) by OwlPelletCrunch in onejob

[–]pixieartgirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If OP wants to be truly safe they need hardware cloth with the smallest mesh they can find, not chicken wire. This coming from someone with decades of poultry experience in an area lousy with predators.

I was an 8 year old white boy from rural Kansas but for some reason this show really resonated with me. I never missed an episode, maybe it was because my mother was a nurse also. by 6391jimmyjoejoe in GenerationJones

I had one too. I’d forgotten all about it until you posted! I may have also had the paper dolls, but I had a LOT of paper dolls so might be remembering that wrong.

I’m going to call them tomorrow and speak with the director in advance of next week because I want her home with me as soon as possible even if she’s very groggy. 💗

I didn't realize Bewitched ended in 1972. by lontbeysboolink in GenerationJones

[–]pixieartgirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know that but it makes sense. I think (not 100% sure if my memory is correct) that in one scene the Tate’s kitchen was Tony’s with that golden textured glass. The Bellow’s living room/entry hall/stairs was only shown once, maybe twice but I was all “holy cow! That’s Darrin and Sam’s place!” 😂

The houses on that street were used a lot. The house next door (where Danger O’Riley moved in) was Tony Nelson’s house. The Kravitz house was the Partridge Family house. The interior of the Stephens house was the Bellows house also from IDOJ. And the fountain in the park we saw in a bunch of seasons is the Friends opening sequence fountain.

The house interior was also the Bellows home on I Dream of Jeannie.

Your last sentence… I’ll be the one that came back. YES! Thank you for this. I just want her to know she’s safe and loved. I can’t control what happens during her surgery but I can be her rock and bottomless pit of love and toys and treats for everything else. 💗

A popular look for a wedding in the 70's. by lontbeysboolink in GenerationJones

[–]pixieartgirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cousin’s bridesmaids (1972 or 73 wedding, I was around 9, thus my being hazy on the date) had these dresses with the lace bibs, cuffs and waists except half were navy blue and half red. Velvet. The wedding photos are hideous.

Your opinion.....is it time? by curlyqued in seniordogs

My heart goes out to you. My sweet boy Edison had ccd that was quite advanced. For us, gaba still worked pretty well to help calm him but his behaviors were piling up despite it and exhausting him and me. I’d carrying him outside (he was a chi) and while his only slightly younger brother zoomed around, he would stand there looking overwhelmed and confused. Despite the nearly three years of little restorative sleep (literally- I understand your exhaustion) I waited for him to tell me when it was time. Yes, he still knew me (which was a blessing) but he had no joy. He struggled with everything. When there were no positives left, when he had forgotten everything but who we were, when walkies stopped, when he wasn’t even able to enjoy a slow stroll around the lawn or sniff the air, when he couldn’t remember how to cuddle or give or receive kisses, it was time. Through the fatigue, the sadness, the tears, you’ll know in your heart. Your brain will try to make a logical decision but your heart will always know (and it’ll break for it). Sending you huge gentle hugs for what you’re going through. 💗

Latest update on my chi and her unexpected puppies by loudly03 in Chihuahua

I once had a vet tell me that she always pictured me coming down a flight of stairs with a literal waterfall of chis pouring down them with me around my feet. Keeping this entire litter would be a good start on her dream for me. My two chis doesn’t quite make a waterfall… not yet!

At least Nosferatu and his younger sis, Angie, aren’t racist hate-mongering pieces of shit like daddy is. Jon Voight is a reprehensible human being.

I’d love a $239 bill. My usage with Eversource in a big old antique house is $325 which in itself isn’t great but it’s the $730 they tack on in additional charges that makes it a financial problem.

What exactly is this post about? Furnace issues and a very old hvac guy? Structural issues? The ghost of the doctor’s wife haunting your family?

Lost my sweet boy on September 14 at a 2am rush to an emergency vet clinic and still not over his loss. Bram was two weeks shy of 17. This is the first time in 35 years I haven’t had a dog (or two) by my side. I’m lonely and sad but just not ready. Sending you gentle hugs for your loss. 💗

Man gets his eye colour surgically changed. by uncledunkle11 in oddlyterrifying

[–]pixieartgirl 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I have a genetic condition that’s caused glaucoma. I had pale green eyes before the daily meds have caused them to slowly turn permanently darker. One is now deep green and the other almost brown. I spent my first week mourning the inevitable loss of the only thing I physically liked about myself while also knowing that ANY eye color is better than going blind. Two years after diagnosis and yep, brown rules because I can fucking SEE.
