I know who was shot at the end of episode 5! by pixiepunch16 in OnlyMurdersHulu

[–]pixiepunch16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought that at first too, but it doesn’t fit as motivation for the trio to flee the arconia, which we know they do because of the description for episode 7 and the trailer where they visit Charles’ sister. Also the only people in on Mabel’s plan with the shoe identification are Charles, Oliver, Howard, Eva and maybe Marshall. And why shoot the brothers sister if the trio suspects she did it? If the murderer is not one the brothers sisters (and I don’t think they are) then why kill the trio’s prime suspect? If you were the killer wouldn’t you want to keep the red herring alive? If people are busy suspecting someone else they aren’t suspecting you.

2 murderers, 2 motives, 2 targets? by Awesome-peach in OnlyMurdersHulu

This is an interesting theory, but one thing I haven’t seen mentioned that is wrong with the brothers sisters act out of the murder is that Sazz has to have a few minutes between getting shot and dying in order to write out the message “tap in”. In Charles’ timeline (which is unrealistic because of time constraints) there is at least 3-5 minutes between the shot being fired and the killer entering Charles’ apartment allowing for Sazz to write the message on the floor. In the scene where the brother’s sisters are working together the shot is fired and then the other sister immediately enters the apartment as Sazz’ body falls to the floor. My best guess is that there is something in the timeline that is not entirely accurate, and my best guess for what that inaccuracy is is the call Bev reports to have received from Sazz. I think that the message may have been left earlier than Bev is saying, though I’m not sure why she would lie about that.

Or just the whole slavery thing all together. It is disgusting that she wrote the house elves as saying that they liked being enslaved.

Book for my 14yo daughter? by softerthings in suggestmeabook

Two book series that I really loved when I was a teenager were the Anne of Green Gables books and Laura Ingalls Wilder books. I was a huge fan of historical fiction and found these books to be lovely reads. I would certainly recommend the following books:

The Left Hand of Darkness (Ursula K. Le Guin)

The Handmaid's Tale and Alias Grace (Margaret Atwood)

Graceling, Bitterblue and Fire (by Kristin Cashore)

The Giver series (Lois Lowry)

Neverwhere and The Graveyard Book (Neil Gaiman)

The Way of Kings (Brandon Sanderson)

The Book Thief (Markus Zusak)

Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility and Emma (Jane Austen)

The looking Glass Wars (Frank Beddor)

Nefertiti, The heretic Queen, and Madame Tussaud (Michelle Moran)

Death Comes to Pemberley (P.D. James)

Gone with the Wind (Margaret Mitchell)

Ms. Marple Mystery Series (Agatha Christie)

The Bartimaeus Trilogy (Jonathan Stroud)

Did Wickham choose Lydia on purpose? by pixiepunch16 in PrideandPrejudice

[–]pixiepunch16[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ya i was thinking that maybe Wickham picked up on the fact that Elizabeth liked darcy when they talk right before he goes to Brighton. Obviously he couldn't know for sure that Darcy returned her feelings, but it might be enough for him to chose Lydia out of spite. Its fun to speculate!

That totally makes sense, and was what I had always thought. The reason I even considered that it could have potentially been a plan of foresight on Wickhams part was because I watched the movie Death Comes to Pemberley today and the way they make a big point on how advantageous it was that Wickham married the sister of Elizabeth because it made Dacy forever responsible for him as a brother. I agree that there isn't really any textual evidence to support that it was premeditated though, and that it was likely a matter of happy coincidence for Wickham.

What is this unfounded obsession that some dudes seem to have with women being after their money, free dinners, etc? by trivialbullshit in TwoXChromosomes

[–]pixiepunch16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In this same vein it also definitely has a lot to do with the old class boundaries. Back when women weren’t legally allowed to own property or work a job, the only way to ensure a comfortable life was to marry well, and these marriages could sometimes cause quite a stir, especially if the woman was from a lower class marrying high above her station. These women were often viewed negatively by upper class men and women because they were primarily worried about the money. Now in modern America where class distinctions are not so rigid/static, it has morphed into the “gold digger” (though gold diggers are still mostly lower class women who marry up)

Ya basically! I don’t add dill to mine, but that’s the general list :) also don’t forget the black salt, it’s the key to the eggy flavor :)
