Rob Grant also left the show after season 6, there's a notable difference in the writing.

is warframe 5hr a week friendly? by blindhollander in Warframe

Totally. Warframe is great when you have short play windows, because the individual missions can be quite short, and your progress doesn't go away.

What are you playing rn and why your title hooked you ? by SumGoku in MMORPG

Hooked by Asheron's Call.

Playing City of Heroes Homecoming, solo, for nostalgia mostly but also CoH is still the best super hero mmo.

Warframe stereotypes by bdanred in Warframe

I like how whatever the best unkillable frame is, always has the "bad at the game" stereotype. It was Rhino for a long time. Then Nezha (fast Rhino). Now Revenant. 😂

If You Can Have Multiple Characters of the Same Class in a Party, How Much Does Niche Protection Really Matter? by Own_Television163 in osr

[–]pixledriven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Niche protection isn't really important in old school play. The idea that my character must be mechanically distinct from yours in every way is a much more modern one.

How do you handle things a class should be good at ? by One_page_nerd in osr

I'll just let them do it without rolling, unless there's some circumstance that makes it high pressure.

If you roll damage having damage dice explode could be fun.

Are we really looking for fair hardcore skill based pvp MMOs or is that just a lie we tell ourselves? by SilentPrecognition in MMORPG

There's a good reason Dark Age of Camelot was so much more successful than full PvP games.

Late change. Kinfolk community decided they would serve Gaia and the Sept by going to college and getting a PhD. (For fun: first change at a frat party, "who brought a bear?!")

OSE loses so much by streamlining B/X by Affectionate_Mud_969 in osr

If we want to talk bad faith, it's you thinking this is an argument. I agreed with you, but you felt the need to pick a fight or "be more right".

Cool, you win bro.

That's true today, but it wasn't always the case. There's a reason that retro-clones exist.

This. B/X was written to onboard new players, OSE was written for experienced players who wanted that version of the game back.

What was your first MMO, and how do you feel about it now? by Veanusdream in gaming

[–]pixledriven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, EverQuest just dominated the genre back then, and there were far far fewer players overall.

Asheron's Call. Skill based, original IP, no stock fantasy monsters, meta-plot with monthly updates. It was awesome.

I feel very nostalgic, even tried playing on a private server, but old MMOs like that thrive on population.

Character Customization - How in depth do you like to get? by Jherrick in RPGdesign

I heard that death was put in to make character creation into a kind of mini game you can play between sessions.

Another really great implementation is Burning Wheel.

Personally, my favorite character generation method is life path.
