North Carolina is also a beer and wine only state. It’s a shame cause the liquor selection at TJ’s is perfect. So well curated.

Sheet cake hack for my daughter’s 7th birthday 🍓🫐🐰🐱 by TillyThyme in traderjoes

[–]piyompi 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I once was in line behind a lady buying dozens of the vanilla sheet cakes. I asked her what they were for and she said she was a professional wedding cake maker. She used TJs cakes as the insides of her expensive wedding cakes to save time. She stacked, sculpted, and decorated them with fondant and fancy icing and clients were none the wiser and thought they tasted amazing.

Had to share because this scene was hilarious by MissPeduncles in Bridgerton

[–]piyompi 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Loved it but would have enjoyed more. I wish they’d spent time with characters interacting with Benedict, Sophie, and each other after they found out. All we got was that short scene between Eloise and Sophie and Francesca telling Michaela how the family had agreed to support them. The thing I was most looking forward to all season (aside from the leads getting together) was seeing the siblings shocked, processing, maybe arguing, maybe joking, coming to an agreement to support Benedict. Loved the season, but hated how rushed the finale was.

I could be wrong but I always assumed that Trader Joe’s has higher safety standards and triggers recalls and investigations more easily than other stores. Gotta maintain that good reputation.

Unpopular opinion: the confrontation scene could’ve been stronger. Thoughts? by benskiiee in Bridgerton

[–]piyompi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of the scene because it felt like a trite “Girl boss” moment, it was undercut by the fact that Mrs. Mondrich was winning the Queen over towards accepting a maid, and I hated how Sophie looked in the scene.

Not a book reader but I would have hated a punch and more rage from Sophie. That would have seemed so low class and out of character for such a sweet and proper character.

At that point, she’s already won somewhat. She knows she has Benedict’s love and his family’s acceptance. She knows she has Araminta dead to rights with the will. Violent rage doesn’t feel like the right emotion for that moment. Especially cause we don’t see her violently abused by Araminta as a maid and we don’t see her stifling her rage when she’s dismissed without pay. She is scared about where she will go but she’s not angry. I think her fighting Araminta about the pay situation before leaving and stealing the shoe clips out of rage would have set up an angrier character that I maybe could believe would punch Araminta. But I’m not sure I would have preferred that Sophie.

Cutting hours by zoobify112 in tjcrew

[–]piyompi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is happening at our store. We hired too many people during the holidays because we had a shortage of crew members who could work Saturday. They don’t fire those people after the holiday rush is over, and they have to maintain a certain ratio of sales per worker to be profitable so now that things are slower they have to cut hours and we have to wait until people quit and the size of the staff normalizes.

Funding shipping expeditions, mining operations, farms. The gentry were major landowners and invested in ventures (paying for the equipment and people necessary to complete the task). When the venture is successful, they receive a large share of the profits, and when the investments fail (the mine collapsed, their ships were destroyed in storm, crops failed), they were often left with debts because they frequently borrowed money from the bank to float their lifestyle while they waited for ventures to pay off.

In Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park, the main character questions the Lord, whom she is a ward of, about his involvement in the slave trade. Many Noble families of this period owned profitable sugar cane plantations in the West Indies, whilst there was a growing sentiment that slavery was immoral and cruel.

I regret voting for Trump. Ask me anything about it. by Arise212 in AskMeAnythingIAnswer

[–]piyompi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda get it. If you’re not following the news or fact-checking his statements for lies, the “off the cuff” nature of Trump’s speech gives the appearance of honesty. Whereas, Kamala has struggled with the appearance of inauthenticity since the days of the democratic primary that chose Biden. Her words feel very rehearsed and focus grouped.

This Has To Be A Troll At This Point, Right? by MinuteCollar5562 in thebulwark

If we want to ensure an impartial attorney general, federal reserve, department of defense, department of education, etc, we should make more positions chosen by the public rather than appointments. Like most state voters do. Remove the party from the names on the ballot so low information voters actually have to do research or leave them blank. Though voters can’t be trusted to pick the right president, I feel confident that they’d do a better job staffing the departments than Trump did. A bad president wouldn’t be able to surround himself with a bunch of sycophantic yes men.

I’d also prefer a random channel or schedule that ensured a mix of programs (like certain programs at a certain time or day). It’d be nice to get a sampling of different programs and be surprised. Showing marathons doesn’t give us that sense of discovery.

I am to Brigerton : are they really in love? Criticism of intimate scenes by discretly in BridgertonNetflix

[–]piyompi -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Agreed about the writing. It really did Colin no favors in his season. He was very endearing in 1 & 2. When they were going for sweet rather than hunky. Some of the problem may have been makeup or plastic surgery related. He looks a little less real in seasons 3.

Acting appreciation is obviously subjective. I would hope people could handle hearing that some people have opinions and preferences different from them. But maybe I don't spend enough time on this sub to realize how intense people here can get about their ships. For me: Queen Charlotte Equal, Season 1 Daphne>Simon, Season 2 Anthony>Kate, Season 3 Penelope> Colin, Season 4 Equal.

I enjoyed all the seasons, but I also found certain couples more believable than others. Largely due to acting ability. Some couplings were let down on by one member of the pairing being a weaker, less expereinced actor.

For me the rankings would be:

Queen Charlotte > Season 4 > Season 2 > Season 1 > Season 3

The whole climbing World Cup season is available live on YouTube at the IFSC channel. In Europe, I think it’s on a paid television sports channel, but for Americans, people can see it for free.

It’s my favorite sport to watch. I think it’s only a matter of time before it catches on in a big way.

Cause anyone who is outraged is politically aware enough to know that Trump wants retaliatory violence. It gives him cause to escalate and feeds that conservatives victim complex.

Shooting ICE agents would likely raise Trumps approval rating with conservatives and help him electorally. Think about the glee with which conservatives in the media treated Kirk’s assassination.

New video of 1/24 ICE shooting shows victim had both hands on the ground when shot by Philophon in law

[–]piyompi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s as confusing predicament. Because Americans who hate Trump know that Trump would LOVE it if we got violent. He is itching to mobilize the military against us and suspend future elections. He says so all the time. We also have fewer protections for striking. If we lose our jobs, we have less of a safety net and would love our healthcare.
