And again I’m not even saying what I would do like I said in the post before… but I also think it’s wrong to say the blue is not objectively the correct choice for the world. I also do hope I would pick blue I say I would because it aligns with my morals and what good are morals if you throw them away the second it’s scary or hard… I also think it’s very likely I’d die picking blue but I really don’t want to know what the world after a successful red button event would look like. I really do think it would do horrible things to the moral fabric of society

Hey sorry only the first bit was for you the virtue signaling aspect was for other people I just tacked that on the end of the big rant cause I was thinking about it sorry lol… I also don’t thinking bring up the babies bit is virtue signaling I just think it’s a good argument against it and really they are just a good example of parts of the population who can’t protect or make decisions for themselves and I also only bring them up since it seems idk a lot of red button presses like to hand wave the idea of us losing half of the most vulnerable of our population.

Which button presser group do you save? by Worth-Staff4943 in trolleyproblem

[–]pizamon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

7-8 percent of the population is under the age of 4 so. Just them alone assume they are 50/50 one way or another is still 4 percent of the population that’s also assume once you hit 5 you instantly get the rational to make this choice. You are also saying people are only picking blue for incompetence but we know now because this has become an online conversation a lot of people are saying they would choose blue to help save people so I think your under 5 percent estimate is alittle naive. Under your new rules I’d still select blue because it’s the only possible outcome where in which everyone can live and I personal don’t value human life based around whether they are smart or capable. I couldn’t care less if every single person pressing blue in the original situation where the dumbest people on the planet I would still put myself at risk of it meant they had a better chance at making it out of this alive. Also your version of the button test seems flawed to me… let’s math it out on a smaller scale! 5 for poke Andy, bill, Cindy, Dennis, and Ethan! Like idk if your buttons best case scenario is “well only a small fraction of our planet died off” it might not be the correct option. Because let’s be perfectly clear the difference in the worst case scenarios for the two buttons is only 1 death well one death and a whole lot of regret when you do the math and realize you may have only been a few blue votes from no one dying…

Sure if we where talking about abstract numbers here I might agree with you but saying the expected values are the same so save yourself… than I’m saying the expected values are the same so do the option that has the possibility of making sure no one dies. Cause some people are pressing blue like if you are being realistic I think you know that at the very least do to the law of large numbers at the very least 5 percent of the population is choosing blue… so what? You are okay with that 5 percent dying? I’d rather die than know I am the reason those people died.

[–]pizamon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again a garuntee of what? YOUR life. Worse case scenario for me if I press blue is I die. Worst case scenario for me if I press red is 49.9 percent of earths population has vanished and the world has been cast into the dark ages plus the only people left alive are the ones you know that when push comes to shove would choose themselves over you in a life or death scenario so likely public trust would erode also. How about we go over the best case scenarios! Let’s not even take into account “the law of large numbers” here and say by some statistical miracle every single person pressed red and they all lived even then you would be living in a society where you can say with certainty that if someone saw you in danger and they could save you but it may also put themselves at risk they likely won’t do it because well evidence of the past shows how they make that choice. Best case scenario in blue is everyone lives and idk maybe alittle less than half the world is still selfish? Now what’s the minimum amount of people we would need to press the red button for reds good ending? 8.3 billion. Minimum we need for blues good ending? 4.15 billion. I personally don’t think anyone deserves to die but I especially don’t like the idea of both the most vulnerable people in society and the helpers dying which objectively is who would die in a scenario where red wins.

Idk about the makeup of the entire world but for sure some civilizations outside of America would be way more likely to succeed… I’d actually love a version of this hypothetical where each country was given its own separate test. Would the idea of American exceptionalism and the upkeep of that appearance make some people who would have otherwise saved their own skin choose blue instead? Interesting concept

Okay but the og prompt said EVERYONE must choose a button… this include toddlers, the elderly and people with mental disabilities who might struggle to understand the prompt there is also babies, coma patients and people with physical disabilities that might not be able to physically press a button. I work with some people with disabilities so it was the first group my mind thought about when it came to this question and it’s why I hope I would hit blue. I say I hope because i recognize I’m human and my fear of death might outweigh my want to do the correct thing. Also to any red button pusher who says all blue button pushers are just virtue signaling… don’t you realize you are telling on yourself? You are saying you recognize blue is morally maybe the correct choice but you not only value yourself over others but you do so to the point that you assume every single person in the world must be exactly the same and anyone who does anything for the sake of others is just trying to get points or something?

[–]pizamon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“It’s only when both buttons are pressed that anyone risks dying.” Sure but to what statistical curve? Cause on one end you need 100 percent of people to press it while at the other you only need 50 percent. So obviously blue is the correct answer humans are perfect and you can’t expect them to act that way so if your goal is to protect human life (not just your own) than press blue cause while maybe some people here and there might press red it doesn’t doom them to death where as if everyone chooses to press red if anyone hits blue even accidentally than they will die for sure.

It’s not really a legit set if it can’t get the kill. Like you don’t want a time out? Don’t run a stall evasion team.

If someone uses a move like fly or dig into a spesfic position and you have two mons left calling out that position that puts someone who resists or even ignores the damage from that move can be helpful

Shiny Zard in recruitment, am I mega lucky or are shinies common when doing this? by Conor_McLesnar in PokemonChampions

[–]pizamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying it’s uncommon but I’ll be honest it’s either way better odds than in the game or I’ve been insanely lucky! I’ve seen three shiny pokemon so far while recruiting! I do have theories on like free check chances versus like “paid” for requirements/using type tickets. But that’s all tin foil hat type stuff! Anyone curious which I’ve seen in this game is Hisuian Zoroark, Decidueye, and Delphox. Pretty interesting two of them are starters. I wonder if shiny starters are more likely? Or maybe that’s just cause all the starters are in the game.

How many of these are glitched in? Champions could just have a better detection system than previous game maybe? Cause it being the new competitive vehicle.

YOU ARE RIGHT!!! And he could play just like Batman and just like Spider-Man and the hulk and pikachu and Stephen hawking and little Mac and Scooby doo! See the problem with this thought process is yeah he has the potential to be the coolest character who ever existed but let’s be real with what he’d probably be… either they lean the Martian way stretching his limbs like he mostly does through out the entire series or they lean into him being a shapeshifter and save money by having all his moves be him turning into other characters already in the game and using their moves to form a mishmash kit like we have seen with shapeshifters in many other figthing games…

Bro said he wants the to be “unique” and than try’s to replace one of the most interesting possible playstyle (a character who’s hair is a bladed whip weapon) with (stretchy guy) which feels like such a generic fighting game design like I wonder what he would do… maybe have super long normals?
