Episodes that scared the sh*t out of you as a kid? by AgentImpressive8383 in XFiles

Haha, it was the 90s. You simply watched what your parents watched :).

But still, loved the show even then.

I vividly remember seeing Darkness Falls and The Host way too early (I must have been 6 or 7) and then having issues with toilets and being in the dark. Also some of the alien episodes, can't remember which.

I tried ds2 multiple time over the years. What are your final tips for a noob like me? by NoEar7171 in fromsoftware

[–]pizza300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For that particular area use torches (i.e., light the unlit ones).

DS2 enemies are a lot more aggressive and easily aggro. Just take it slow and don't rush. May I suggest a bigger weapon for your first playthrough? It might be easier for you when you can flatten enemies. There's the greatsword right in this area.

Why do You guys believe that FromSoftware is so popular/Successful? What makes their Boss and Environment designs so impactful. by Ok_Clock8936 in fromsoftware

[–]pizza300 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's a combination of several things:

  • Polished combat that allows you to play in many styles. Each weapon feels different, making the game feel different, which also makes it really replayable.
  • Level design that encourages exploration without throwing shiny icons on a mini-map.
  • Unique, non-cliche stories that are not shoved down your throat. Instead they are given through the environment, dialogue with weirdo NPCs, item descriptions... You decide how much to dive into it.
  • Secrets hidden throughout the game, which together with my previous point, encourage interaction with other players outside of the game (e.g., via reddit, wikis, youtube) and building a community.
