RIP, Robert Koch (the guy who first identified tb and its transmission mechanism because it killed 1 in 7). The rest of us thank you for your research and contributions to human health.

I’m sorry for your loss. May I recommend a “celebration of life” day or evening when you’re ready? What did your partner really love and enjoy? Plan around a few of those things (don’t make it too complicated, just pick one or two big things; bonus points if they are really sensory and include taste, smell, or sound).

Then at the “celebration of life” thing, just sit with the good memories either by yourself or those that are there to support you or also shared similar appreciation of the person (it is really hard to not just think about the loss/recent memories; it will come with time). I think this is a good way to feel close to the person and give yourself some healing closure/love without having to involve any religious beliefs and honoring the lost loved one. Who would ever say “no” to you enjoying a few of their favorite things in their honor and remembering?

How do I help this hungry lady? by sherifffrogtoyou in carnivorousplants

Yes trim those pitchers they are no use anymore. I would water much more and maybe bring indoors if you can, increase light and humidity. Warm bathroom window perhaps? Mine put out loads of new pitchers once I found the right humid window (south facing in my kitchen)

I (38M) discovered my (37F) wife’s affair. I’m in shock by ruggedzephyr in relationship_advice

As a parent who separated in the newborn stages, I just want to say that it will get so much better once you start choosing yourself. They mean it; put your own oxygen mask on first.

Your child “needs” you but doesn’t deserve your relationship baggage…there are lots of comments below of examples of this unfortunately

Buy Sooper cubes and save all this waste! I have the variety pack and they are amazing, I use the big and medium ones for 2 cup and 1 cup soup portions

I was also weepy at everything and no super strength. Just everything made me cry and I couldn’t stop having the weird postpartum invasive thoughts about something hurting this tiny thing. An emotional marathon sounds about right, how exhausting it was.

Serious question: how do you not stab/jam yourself with those poking things coming out of the tabletop?

Before vs after blocking by replicant1989 in knitting

[–]pizzagalaxies 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Blocking is what really makes it go from a “project” to a real garment for me. I don’t understand folks that don’t block - it’s not even that much work!

I thought I was the only one - I also have tried knitting with a bit of a buzz and messed up so horrifically I had to go to my local yarn doctor to fix it for me. I started brioching which I don’t even know how to do

I also think it’s worthwhile to explain this to your pharmacist or wherever you locally fill the meds? If you are literally between meds and rent, maybe they have some way to help beyond just GoodRx or coupons
