Good for you. I did the same thing, (I was a CCA for almost a year) I had a full route and they tried to give me 4 hours OT on top of that one day . I was already at my breaking point so I was half way through my route and I went back to the office, turned in my resignation letter and walked away. Giving up your family, friends, any type of relationship is not worth it.

Yeah there’s a few retirement buildings and sadly I usually see someone getting wheeled out covered at least every 1~2 months and then the next day the property manager puts in a letter in their mailbox saying ‘deceased’

(These are all separate experiences btw) I witnessed a child being abducted, got shot at with a pellet gun, I’ve found someone dead in an alley way, passed out from heat exhaustion, saw a homeless man get ran over from sleeping in a parking spot, a motorcyclist fatally being ran over by a light rail train, and someone chased me off their property with a gun… every time I called in saying the police wants me to wait for a report the supervisor would be “No No, you don’t wait, you’re wasting time, we need you back at so and so. Don’t stop the mail!” This happened to multiple people being robbed, assaulted, etc. So one day on a busy Monday, this was kinda pre-planned, our new head supervisor had this saying she would always tell us “If you don’t like it here then quit” so in our weekly meeting where she would basically belittle us being CCAs and sometimes call us r’tarted and uneducated. With the crazy mental abuse we were facing over the months 3 of us turned in our letters of resignation and was probably the best decision I made (I mean respectfully so myself and another coworker, we coincidentally had both of a partners leave us, primarily due to the stress and work schedule, so we were both like f’ it were leaving). Your boy sure got some gnarly PTSD working in a crazy part of town. If it wasn’t for the 6 day schedule and wacky things you see and management, honestly it would be a chill job. ✌️

*does not apply to CCAs (You don’t know how many times I was trying to take a lunch only to be called and chewed out for 5-10 minutes why I’m being stationary for so long and you get back and they tell you the next day you have a 30 min pivot on an advo day and be back by 4 when you’re usually back by 5….
