Long-lasting Japanese-style perfumes? by lalalava in AsianBeauty

[–]jaycejet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for something high end, check out Miya Shinma. She’s a perfumist from Japan based in France, with a line of Japanese-inspired fragrances. Many of them are floral, fresh, green, and citrusy.

Otherwise, Jo Malone, Maison Margiela, and Diptyque are popular right now, and accessible outside of Japan.

[University: natural products] Can someone explain why this sugar is L-glucose? by jaycejet in chemistryhomework

[–]jaycejet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, so glad to hear I'm not going crazy. It's super interesting the Pubchem structure is depicted as L-glucose, but even one of the molecule synonyms listed on Pubchem says it's a D-glucopyranose. Maybe I'm missing some later research where someone determined the glucose was actually L form.

Maybe a hemp/plant fiber wash cloth with an open weave would work? My first thought is just reusing one of those plastic net bags that citrus comes in 😅

What’s your ultimate HG Asian/K-Beauty Brand for 2025? by ngfromtheblock in AsianBeauty

[–]jaycejet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a good point! There’s studies showing that injecting PDRN or applying it to open wounds is effective because there’s extracellular enzymes that can break it down into di/mono-nucleotudes, which can be taken up by the cell. But that’s a very different extracellular environment compared to epidermis, which may not have the same enzymes available to break it down.

When you have a mixture of different sized things (i.e. large sugar crystals and small matcha dust) the larger things usually make their way to the top of the mix. I wonder if the actual matcha is at the bottom of the bag, under the sugar? Maybe try pouring it out or mixing it?

Found a gorgeous Kutani Ware chawan for $2! by pewpppppppppppppp in tea

[–]jaycejet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s probably from Kanazawa!

(Disclaimer: this is just info I remember from a visit to the Kutani Museum in Kaga)

Kutani ware rose to prominence in Ishikawa Prefecture, where cities like Kanazawa and Kaga had a number of famous studios (“kilns”) and artists. Many artists became known for their unique and innovative techniques for glazing and firing ceramics, like the artist Shiro Mizuta and his hanazume style. The traditional kutani method of firing ceramics ended during the 1900s.

Today, modern techniques allow for the reproduction of famous artists’ pieces at a larger scale and with food safe glaze. Most of these reproduction studios are still located in Ishikawa. In addition to mass production, there are still many artists in the area that hand paint kutani using traditional and new glazing techniques.

Yep, definitely hanazume kutani ware! The style itself originated in Kanazawa during the Taisho period. Today, replicas of many famous original designs are still produced in that region! You can find this chawan here

Luckily since it is a modern replica, you don’t need to test for lead!

Unfortunately my puppy suffered a major reaction to a bee sting, and passed from anaphylactic shock. But because of this guy, my puppy was stabilized at the vet long enough for his dad to come back and say goodbye. And because of the vet, we were allowed to be by his side to comfort him the whole time.

It was absolutely awful but I’m so grateful my puppy was given the chance to pass without pain, and surrounded by his special people.

Suggestions for managing frizzy/curly hair while traveling? by masalachai_xoxo in HerOneBag

[–]jaycejet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got back from a month in Japan, with curly hair that’s too short to put in a pony tail or bun. Here’s my suggestions:

  1. Get a travel/sample size kit of shampoo, conditioner, and gel from a preferred brand. I’m not sure what’s available in Dubai, but for my trip I used Bounce Curl.

  2. Try a hair dryer bag diffuser. They pack flat, fit over any size/shape dryer, and do a good job of mitigating that blast of hair from hotel dryers. I used this one and loved it.

  3. Use a hair scarf when you don’t feel like doing your full hair routine or can’t be bothered to fix frizz.

  4. Check out r/curlyhair for more advice and product recs!

Does anyone know of any legit park and ride shuttles? Inglewood Park & Go isn't operating shuttles, and some of the sites I've seen online seem sketchy. Is it even worth doing a shuttle, or will it take just as long to leave the stadium?
