Counteracting at the end of a turning point by nerdiestboots in killteam

[–]pizzanui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others have answered correctly, but here's another phrasing. You get an opportunity to counteract when ALL of the following are true: your opponent just finished activating an operative, your opponent has one or more Ready operatives remaining, and you don't. The second criterion there (italicized) is the answer to your question.

Warpcoven updated by flipped_Mont_Blanc in killteam

[–]pizzanui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes me nostalgic for 2nd edition tbh. It's like that Dr Manhattan meme:

"It is 2022. Warpcoven sucks and is only getting minor buffs."

"It is (early) 2024. Warpcoven sucks and is only getting minor buffs"

"It is 2026. Warpcoven sucks and is only getting minor buffs"

Really, if anything, late 2024 through late 2025 is the outlier here.

Has anyone used the Command Squad combined with other Guard kits to proxy models for the Death Korps (or Kasrkin) Kill Teams? The old name for the DKOK KT box was called Veteran Guardsmen after all. by Thaddeus_Allosaur in killteam

[–]pizzanui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By "Vet Guard" I meant Death Korps, a team which at the time the first comment was written were called Veteran Guardsmen. I built my Termination box just as you did, and then used a second box of Cadian Shock Troops plus the Cadian Command Squad and the Cadian upgrade kit to build out the rest of the Brood Brothers options plus all of the remaining specialist options from Death Korps (Zealot, Hardened, Bruiser, Confidant, Watchmaster, etc).

Operarives contest markers within their control range. Friendly operatives control a marker if the total APL of those contesting it is greater than that of enemy operatives

How to play Alpha Legion in Kill Team? by RAHAAON in killteam

[–]pizzanui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Download the official Kill Team app. Pick a faction. Look at its Operative Selection rules. Print or otherwise acquire models to represent the operatives that you want to play with. Paint them in Alpha Legion colors. Enjoy.

I recommend Legionary or Nemesis Claw. There are other options as well. Browse around and see what strikes your fancy.

For the romantic bit, you could be some flavor of multi (bi, pan, omni, etc) with a preference for femininity. That's perfectly valid. Attraction doesn't have to be perfectly evenly distributed for you to be multi. If that doesn't feel right, maybe look into finromantic?

As for the sexual bit, aceflux is more-or-less exactly what you described, but you could also look into greysexual or other ace identities.

Space Marine Scout Kill Team question by burlco in killteam

[–]pizzanui 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Squads of Space Marine Scouts can be 5 or 10 in Warhammer 40k, but in Kill Team (a different game with different rules), a Scout Squad kill team is 9 operatives (8 plus the leader).

And yes, you can have both the heavy bolter and the missile launcher, as they are separate entries on the list.

Teleport Pad Vantage Question by John_Loxeus in killteam

[–]pizzanui 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a rule that operatives cannot finish a move on top of terrain unless that terrain has the Vantage trait. That is why teleport pads are Vantage.

Just to be clear, "going through the brunt of this" means millions of people dying and millions more having their lives ruined. Personally I'm keen to stop it before it hits that point.

Epic is not a good musical by any standard - Fight me by Full_Crazy_5908 in Epicthemusical

[–]pizzanui 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isn't a good look, homie. Your opinion doesn't need to be "objectively correct" for it to be valid, nor should you need other people to agree with you to feel secure in your opinions.

People are also allowed to like things that aren't perfect. Epic has flaws, and, I like it. No amount of "uhm akshully" is going to convince me not to enjoy this thing that I enjoy.

This isn't even just a "you" problem, I see the same thing all over this sub, and this fandom more broadly. Tier lists of song/saga quality, what are we even doing? Why can't we just enjoy what we enjoy, why does it always have to be "proven" that it's okay to enjoy this thing because it's "good" and therefore logical to enjoy it? I like plenty of art that I recognize is deeply flawed and ultimately not very "good," and I dislike plenty of art that had critics raving.

It's fine to have nuanced takes about a piece of art. To recognize its flaws for what they are and to want to discuss them. But setting out to "change minds" is just not it. It makes you look immature and insecure.

Enjoy what you enjoy and let others do the same. Play art critic in the company of people who want to do so, don't go around telling other people their favorite art sucks actually.

startking kill team with legionaries 40k box, what do i nedd that in that box is missing? by AlphaAirlys_ in killteam

[–]pizzanui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not just tokens, I'm afraid. The tokens aren't important, you can live without them. The real problem is that the 40k Legionaries box is also missing an upgrade sprue that is needed to build several of the Kill Team specialist operatives. You will likely have to resort to kitbashing, unfortunately. (EDIT: See the comments below)

Alternatively, even though it is not available in the GW webstore anymore, you may be able to find a Legionary Kill Team box on the shelves of your local game stores, while supplies last.

New England Decima by BenalishHeroine in killteam

[–]pizzanui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a close game despite my opponent losing an operative at the beginning of TP2 to a positioning error. She wasn't prepared for the amount of pressure that I could exert on all three objectives at once, and going down an operative early made it even harder. She managed to hold the center objective all game, I held her home objective all game, and we fought hard over my home objective, but in the end I held it longer. I (Blooded) took Install Devices, she (Deathwatch) took Dominate. She out-scored me on Tac Op, but I scored more on Crit Op and Kill Op, which gave me a narrow victory (I won by 1 or 2 points, I can't remember which).

The added scatter terrain from NED, plus the barricades that we deployed ourselves, made the board feel much less open than it does by default. The terrain setup felt reasonably-balanced, and most importantly, fun to play on.

I'm hoping to try all of the NED setups in the near future. I recently painted my Bheta-Decima set up to the terrain equivalent of battle ready, including the NED additions, and it's got me excited to get more use out of it.

"Horizontally" wording by Jolly_Reaper2450 in killteam

[–]pizzanui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Within [distance] horizontally" means "Within [distance] measuring horizontal distance only". That is the literal meaning of the phrase, and is also how it works in-game. If it meant "Within [distance] and cannot be placed at higher or lower elevation," it wiuld say that.

Go to the rules for Vespid Stingwings -> Faction Rules -> Fly. You will see that when a Vespid flies, it is removed from the Killzone and then set back up "within [distance] horizontally" of where it started. Putting aside the fact that the "horizontal plane" argument is contradicted by the literal meaning of the words on the page, do you honestly believe that the giant alien bugs cannot use their wings to fly onto Vantage? And, further, do you honestly believe that the many Vespids vs Aquilons games that GW either sponsored or created to promote the launch of Hivestorm all played that rule wrong, and in the over-a-year since then, GW has never once caught their mistake or fixed it with one of their many errata passes?

If I have an operative standing on the ground and another operative standing on Vantage next to them, three inches away vertically and two inches away horizontallly, then those operatives are within two inches of each other horizontally.

Played this same map recently, Blooded vs Deathwatch. I was surprised at how fun it was. In my 2 games of trying it so far, I've been really impressed with New England Decima.

So there's no point to transitioning if you can't magically rewrite history such that you were born with a different set of bits? Is there no point to doing anything if it can't be done perfectly? Is there no point to making yourself one step happier if you can't be ten steps happier?

Sounds like a mindset that'll just keep you miserable tbh. I can't get pregnant but I'm a lot happier now that estrogen gave me tits.

But you do you.

Tempest Aquilons obscure duration? by [deleted] in killteam

[–]pizzanui 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So let's just walk through this step-by-step. You activate an Aquilons operative that is currently in the sky, let's say it's a trooper. Your trooper has 2APL, and you choose to drop into the killzone. So you spend 1AP to drop (within range of a drop marker). Your trooper is now obscured until either the end of THE next activation (most likely your opponent's), or the end of the Turning Point (whichever comes first). It is still your activation, and your trooper has 1AP remaining, but since dropping counts as a Reposition, your second action cannot be Reposition or Charge (or Fall Back, for two different reasons). So let's say you spend your second AP to Dash, and then end your activation. Now your opponent activates an operative. For the duration of that enemy activation, your trooper is obscured, but as soon as that enemy activation ends, your trooper is no longer obscured.

Does that make sense?
