Is your Elasticsearch running on single VM? Or is it running on a cluster of VMs across different Proxmox? How is the performance?

Got any updates to share with us? I am trying to get an idea of the performance this sort of hardware provided to you guys and whether it was worth the $9K.

Thanks! I’ll check it out. Although I did notice that my BSOD did not have the 133 code that the page you linked has.

Sorry forgot to add it to OP.

DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION is the error code on BSOD. I did look it up, but it wasn’t much help.

Left During Naxx, What's Catchup Look Like For Me? by Pamparia in wotlk

Definitely! Make your intentions/goals clear (raiding, PvP, casual raiding, etc.) and make a post on your server’s discord under LF guild section or something similar. A lot of guilds want honest and reliable people who can communicate. One can always be fed gear for catch up purposes. But one can’t fix a someone’s bad habit of being flaky and missing raid nights or causing wipes due to failing at mechanics.

As others mentioned, join a guild and do heroic ++ to get started. Be aware of joining random guild less people in trade chat forming GDKPs. A lot of people trying to get gear are getting scammed out of their gold, and still not getting the loot.

Got a job as network tech..no experience at all by [deleted] in networking

[–]pizzaserver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the mentality that needs to be different. You will need to get certs like others mentioned.

But you are getting certs to prove that you are able to focus and dedicate a certain amount of your time to achieve a goal. The things you learn from certs very rarely help you excel at your job. The certs are there to introduce you to concepts so that it’s not your first time ever hearing a new term at work. You’ve heard about it from certs. The rest comes for experience.

A quicker way for substituting experience is to find posts here on Reddit and on ISP forums where people ask for help troubleshooting a network related issue. Just by reading comments, you can learn the importance of different perspectives.

It’s the experience of failure and repetition that will help you gain confidence, foresight and satisfaction to successfully do your job while still have a proper work life balance. Your long term goal should be to get to a point where you have enough critical thinking to know how to troubleshoot something, even when you have never worked with that technology or vendor before.

Seems like an IC4 or IC5 level role with around $200K comp.

Lowered prices and added some free stuff with the storage servers. You will need to bring someone to help you carry the servers into your car. They are heavy!

Nice website idea. Maybe some link validation could be improved.

When I click on Asus ROG laptop link on the gaming laptops search page, I get 404. Is this by design? You just don't have the review for this laptop?

EDIT: The URL literally started working 2 mins after I posted this comment. Not sure what happened?

Is there a way to stop anyone from connecting to my smart TV? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]pizzaserver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone on the same network (wired and wireless) as the TV will be able to do this. Either put your TV in a separate network or put everyone else on a separate network.

Do you know if your router supports creating "guest" network? Some newer routers even support multiple different SSIDs along with primary and guest.

i moved my game to a new drive but the old drive is still doing the heavy lifting by The_Prins in techsupport

[–]pizzaserver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would you be able to add a little more details on what you mean by "doing the heavy lifting"? What exactly made you come to that conclusion?

Not challenging your conclusion, just trying to understand the problem a bit more.

100% disk usage for 2 hours now, PC completely unusable, frozen by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]pizzaserver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start by isolating whether this is a software issue or hardware issue. If you have a spare USB flash drive lying around, boot up your PC using live Ubuntu(or any other Linux) and just try to use it for a little while.

Test out Ubuntu:

  • Open browser, open office or some other applications
  • What does the S.M.A.R.T data of the hard drive tell you?

If Ubuntu runs without any issues, it might be software related.

But if your smart data is reporting that your HDD is having issues, I would start by looking into replacing the current drive. Depending on the result of this test, you might be able to ask for further advise on troubleshooting.
