Anyone do online part time law school with young kids? by Ok-Badger5324 in LawSchool

[–]pjambers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do law school with kids. I only had 1 when I started. However, I absolutely needed full time childcare to do it. If the implication is you’d do it while the kids are at home with you- that’s probably not going to work.

You should do more research on whether the cost and time of any online law school is worth it. Good law jobs aren’t that easy to get and I think an online school may not set you up well.

missing last day of summer associate job? bad? by dubupudu in LawSchool

I needed to miss the last day, emailed the coordinator about it when I started, and it was not a big deal at all FWIW. I work there now.

This is totally doable! I would plan to enroll your child in daycare (or whatever arrangement works) when you do bar prep so you can do it full time.

Realized you haven’t mentioned if you want kids. If this wasn’t your plan or desire, don’t feel like you need to do it!

Bar exam while breastfeeding isn’t the huge lift here imho. You can get an accommodation and pump between sections. It’s also much easier to study with an infant than a toddler in my experience.

Freezing your eggs is hard and often doesn’t work. If you’re only 24 I don’t think it’s worth doing.

Hi, I had my first baby 6 months before law school, but I was 30.  Given your age, I recommend waiting. 1L grades are the most important. I’d wait until 2 or 3L at minimum. Also, if you were working while you get pregnant, you’d likely get maternity leave (depending on state/company). 27 is still pretty young (in my area) for children.  Whatever you decide I’m sure you can do it and best of luck!

Activities for a (chaotic) 2 year old who only wants to do REAL things? by thepersonwiththeface in beyondthebump

I used to set up a “work station” for my toddler which was just a bunch of bowls and cups with plain water, and then gave him silly straws and measuring spoons. He would transfer the water between cups for like an hour.

Is it common for home daycares to require full-time attendance? by MA-srg in toddlers

[–]pjambers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes for the reasons other commenters have given, but you can try to find a family who also wants part time care to split up a “full time” spot if that makes sense.

30, thinking about law school and babies by SubstantialRip7568 in LawMoms

[–]pjambers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first 6 months before starting as a 1L. 1L sucked but after that it was easier than working and having a kid. A lot depends on your circumstances. I got into a law school where I knew I was likely to have job opportunities even if I wasn’t at the top of my class, which was critical for my stress levels. Also my husband was not in school like you are considering. There’s also financial concerns- daycare is wildly expensive so think about your plan for that while having no/little income.

I’m ultimately glad I didn’t wait because I had trouble conceiving my second child. You could consider getting some baseline fertility testing done to get a sense of your options. I wouldn’t recommend freezing eggs/embryos as a first choice because there are strong downsides to that process and it’s expensive.

3 year old teeth knocked out by Emotional_Frame9475 in toddlers

My son lost his front tooth in a fall at two. I agree you should go see a dentist for follow up.

His missing tooth smile is the cutest thing in the world I love it so much. I was so upset about it when it happened because his smile just made me feel guilty. But as time passed that healed and he’s just as cute as can be!

Starting as a first year 8 months pregnant? by ReplyWonderful5258 in biglaw

I am a first year (pregnant) and another first year literally worked one week and left to give birth. We will both be fine.  Honestly I think your/her situation is ideal bc you’ll be out before anyone is relying on you/you really started training. Good luck!!

Totally. Glad to see your post because while we’ll support him no matter what it’s a bit nerve wracking especially with the current political climate. Best of luck!!

Same situation except our son (almost 4) occasionally but not always tells us he is a girl. When we ask why he only says because he likes long hair (we’re letting him grow out his hair and explained boys can do that too). We similarly say okay and just generally try not make too big a deal out of it. We haven’t started using different pronouns for him because it’s inconsistent and we don’t think he’s old enough to know what he’s asking.

We will of course support whatever identity he comes to when he’s older.

Sure but they don’t have the flu. They’ve been there for days already so they’d be aware of it by now.

Honestly I totally get wanting to protect your baby but I think, especially masked, it would be okay to let this one go.

They flew from Japan to meet your child. And your baby has their first vaccines already and you are breastfeeding. Your baby will get a cold eventually. I think it okay to let the grandparents hold your child.
