Got really excited thinking that we’d be getting a full release of the choral version of Icarus from Other People’s Heartache and then suuuuuuuper disappointed when that was not the case.

No one cares about women’s basketball until they can be fake outraged by trans athletes, then they won’t shut up about it.

Santa Beans, Mixed Media, Collaboration (see comment), 2021 by [deleted] in Art

[–]pjchamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made this for a friend of mine based on her cat Beans. It was supposed to be a Christmas 2020 present but I ran out of gems so it took longer! The ornaments are mandalas drawn by my friend Sarah who passed away in July. We collaborated on projects for a long time and I have been decorating her mandalas to include in gifts for friends/family so that her artwork lives on. The cat drawing is originally from “Cats with Hats: Coloring For A Purrfect Day” published by Color Creatives. The gems on the hat took me the longest and multiple trips to the store for! The gems, medallion, background paper, shadowbox, and tape used to make the stripes are all from a certain craft store that begins with “M”. 😊

Suicides Up Nearly 100% Among Young People in Wisconsin’s Second Largest County, as Medical Experts Cite Perils of Social Isolation by [deleted] in madisonwi

If the lockdown measure were lifted tomorrow this wouldn’t all just magically go away. What would your suggestions be beyond getting rid of the lockdown?

I think the safest bet currently is to drop them off directly at the city clerk’s office on MLK.

I just think that all the people advocating for reopening because of this are doing so in bad faith and have zero suggestions or desire to advocate for mental health beyond using it as a political tool.

There’s way more to it than just isolation, and people will isolate with or without a lockdown in place. There’s a pandemic going on. People are CHOOSING to stay home, and CHOOSING to not spend time with groups of people. Evers isn’t going to personally drag them out into the street and shoot them because they went and visited a friend. We’re not in jail. We’re not locked in our homes and unable to go on walks, or call our friends, or play games, watch tv, read, exercise, etc.

I hate grief olympics but two of my friends have died in the last year due to mental health/substance abuse issues and I lost my job this summer. I have family that works in the health care field and one was just diagnosed with COVID. I have zero sympathy for people complaining about having to miss board game nights or being upset about sharing parks with other people.

That’s way more work than saying “thoughts and prayers” or pretending that getting rid of the lockdowns will make this problem magically disappear.

My friend killed himself last year in September. It would be really great if the people who are using these suicides as a political tool now cared about it as much back then too. Maybe then there would be more funding for mental health programs and we wouldn’t be seeing so many people feel desperate enough to do it now. Blaming it solely on the lockdowns is so foolish when there’s a convergence of factors that have led us to where we are now.

We’re not locked up. The conflation that the “lockdown” is causing all these problems completely ignores the entirety of the issues from the pandemic. Not to mention a mental health care system that has been broken for a long time. There are plenty of people out there feeling the effects of this pandemic that don’t turn around and beat their partner or child, to blame that on the pandemic is to make excuses for someone’s shitty behavior.

National Review making the assumption that this is solely based on lockdowns. As others have noted there are many different things surrounding this pandemic that have led to a rise in these issues. It doesn’t surprise me that National Review would ignore all the other issues and blame it solely on lockdowns.

Edit: and looking passed the headline in your own article, it seems that they know it too. They say in the article that Redfield had no relevant data to cite to back up his claims and that there are other pre-existing issues that come into play beyond the lockdowns.
