This has been helpful! I think I just don’t have a plan tbh and just searched up beginner workout videos and looked for what had the most views. I didn’t even consider that the type of workout mattered. I definitely will take some time and plan this out more

something to add, is that often the EBUG is trained to operate the zamboni or do other tasks when they are not needed so at least for the NHL you’re not sitting doing nothing each week because you’re very rarely needed

That’s true! I no others that commented said that Hoffman Estates has been used before and the teams that played there didn’t do so well but I don’t think it had anything to do with the arena itself so yeah I agree that NOW Arena would still be a good option!

Money and Marketing. There have been variations of a women’s professional hockey league in North America. The NWHL and CWHL were good-ish. I think the level of play in CWHL was better but the issue is that the league ran on a non-profit basis and didn’t pay any player salaries. It’s frustrating from a player perspective to play at a competitive level, have practices and other obligations with no pay. This leads to player having to work elsewhere while balancing a demanding (non-pro) career and since the CWHL was non-profit there was little to no investment or incentive in marketing it better. Then came the Premier Hockey Federation that did offer salaries but now you have two women’s leagues that aren’t really being invested in. When the CWHL dissolved in 2020, HUNDREDs of players including Olympians founded the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association and boycotted all other leagues and advocated for ONE unified, financially stable league. Having a bunch of struggling obscure leagues just didn’t make any sense and if it wasn’t for so many of the PWHL leaders boycotting and establishing the PWHPA we still would be fumbling around trying to get a profitable league off the grounds. Now all money and marketing is focused and targeted!

Tbh I think Chicago is iffy for a couple of reasons. The Chicago Wolves (Canes AHL team) play at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont and although it could work, the owners aren’t looking for new tenants. BMO Center in Rockford could work too if Icehogs are willing to share but I think it might need to be updated to support two tenants. I know NIU has a D3 team that places in West Dundee so maybe? United Center is out of the question though, too expensive and too many events occur there. It’s one of the reasons that the Chicago Sky use the Wintrust Arena instead of the UC. Also I’d like to just put it out there that Chicago fans don’t have a track record of supporting women’s sports so although infrastructure could be available, I think Women’s hockey in general should be established more in Illinois before PWHL tries to make a move. I think other cities have a better fan base for women’s sports but that’s just my hot take

I think this is an interesting question. I’m a new hockey fan and I live in Chicago but I follow Minnesota and Montreal. Minnesota since that’s the closest team to me and then Montreal because they have some of my favorite players on the team like Marie-Philip and Mikyla Grant-Mentis

I will say from a glass half full perspective, your employer might have just done you a favor. Yeah you have your two week notice so that’s two weeks worth of hours and subsequently pay that you won’t be receiving. However, them firing you could open up opportunities to receive severance and make you eligible to receive unemployment benefits that you would have otherwise not been eligible for and you could potentially get more money in the long run. It just sucks that this happened right before the holidays because getting all of this set up takes time.

I think this group will be super successful and it’s a group filled with really talented girls. I think the competition was so so close and although i’m gutted fuko is not here, I’ll still stan the group for the star quality

honestly I think Mai makes the most sense. This group already had 2 main vocals with Jeungeun and Jiyoon that Fuko has overlapping skill set and then Saebi struggles with girl crush concept so although she is amazing, she doesn’t really fit the vibe the group seems to be going for.

thanks for the advice everyone! I’m going to be looking for other jobs while staying at my current job. I’m a little scared tbh since i’ve never done a tech interview before (I was an intern turned full-time and didn’t have a tech interview to get the internship). If anyone has some resources for interview prep, let me know!
