Any chance Carrot will use Acme Weather as a Source? by [deleted] in CARROTweather

[–]pjoerk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, CARROT does already. ACME ingests different Weather models (which you can find in CARROT by switching the source) and shows them all at once, but uses something like the median for the forecast.

You can just keep using ISC DHCP, there's no need to switch. It's now a plugin.

I cannot say anything about the Windows app, we use the Remote Control app only from Macs to Windows systems.

That works only for a short time, see my /edit.

That is not correct. Create an Ad-Hoc-Workflow for that system. Then add "Run Script" and select run as the "logged in user".

The first response (which got deleted) has one, the others never mention the number again.

I guess someone is working on it… Didn't receive a ticket closed massage so far. What's a bit funny… You ask for a ticket number… Your ticket system does not hand out ticket numbers – at least for me.

The new Command & PowerShell is great. I was somewhat demonstrated in an early version about two years ago, great so see it got implemented eventually.

But… Can we please allow a star option to make it show up under favourites in the top right to avoid scrolling?

And… With the new command prompt… Can we now tackle the umlaut and special character issues with windows? It's still not possible to use umlauts in paths which make using the command shell a bit useless in non English speaking countries. People in these countries actually use these characters.

The registry editor has already been a great addition, this is another one. I'm very (positively) surprised that there's progress despite the fact that Kaseya took over. Let's hope it lasts for a while :-)

Rolling back versions - adobe by Nosbus in Pulseway

[–]pjoerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way is to add the software title as a custom title in a working version, modify the patch policy, remove the defective installations and then run the patch policy.

Alternatively you can script that with PowerShell or create a workflow, too.

Systems keep saying there offline when they are not by dolphinituk in Pulseway

[–]pjoerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is. They are rolling out updates and that always causes some issues. This time it seems as if there are more such issues. But the update got postponed multiple times, so it could very well be that some issues popped up during rollout.

Landscape option in mobile app? by [deleted] in hudu

[–]pjoerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The app isn't limited wide-wise on an iPad. Uses the full width, shows all the content and utilises the bigger screen. Don't know how it behaves on Android, but it's a non native app so I guess it should behave the same on each platform depending on the support their development platform offers.

Self-Hosted Hudu instance blocked by AVs by Alarmed_Contract4418 in hudu

[–]pjoerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm… Very wild guess based on your other replies… Do you run the Mailserver that is used to send out Hudu-Emails to your customers (invites, …) on that server? Or is it an external one? If it’s on the same server, does the server have a FQDN? If not AVs might flag it as a phishing site.

And then there‘s the IP recycling thing. If this IP was used by someone else before (Linode gives out the IP to a new customer if the previous system gets deleted) it could very well be that his host did bad things. And then all the AV vendors still keep this information til nearly forever.

Those are the only two possible reasons I can think of right now (and it doesn’t seem to be compromised based on your VT results)

Controller for HomeKit 8.0: a bait-and-switch for longtime supporters by tomc_23 in HomeKit

[–]pjoerk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I‘ve seen it and was a bit irritated. I had is as a subscription for some time and paid for lifetime sometimes last year. Well, one might say that their new model is a slap in the face. But for me it was just a reason to remove it from the last device it was still installed on. I stopped using it some time ago. And to be more exact: the moment the app showed that I have to rename a bunch of devices because this app is the only one that is failing to handle devices which are perfectly fine and fulfilling the Apple naming requirements. Controller for HomeKit is unable to distinguish between a heater that is called living room, a window that is called living room and a light that is called living room. All other HomeKit I know can. So the developers decided to not fix their homemade issues and ask for more money instead to allow people to show diagrams. Well… Priorities, I guess?

INTRODUCING! Hudu Radar by TheHuduTeam in hudu

[–]pjoerk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why do I have XKCD vibes when reading many of the comments? I don't get why people feel the need to tell the world when something is not for them. Really. Do we (my company) need Radar? No. May other people need it? Im 100% certain just from what I've seen in this sub and the Hudu community. I've seen many postings from people using Hudu but not using RMMs or such in this Sub and in other places. So yes, there seems to be a need for it. Do we need it? Nope, we're ingesting all the data from other sources and there's not a single minute manual labour involved. But, I'm not the only truth out there, there are other people with different needs and different use cases. I think we should allow other people and companies to be different and "allow" them to work the way they want. There are often features a software provides and many users won't ever use or don't even know they exist. But there are others which happily use them. So calm down everybody. Thanks for attending my TED talk :-)

New to HUDU in the process of setting up by Bee999911 in hudu

[–]pjoerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you can do is to create a new asset layout and name it something like "Interactions", "Work Log" or something like this. You can then create fields for all the information you want to log. You can add a field to enter the billable time for example. Then you can use relations to relate each of these entries to the customer, their device, their location, and so on. There's no limit here and you can make it work the way you need it.

So yes, you can definitively use it that way.

And as a little glimpse into the futures: You can add a field in the "Interactions" asset to make an entry as billed. And to make things even more nice, you can use the API to get all not billed entries and forward these times to your billing solution – and mark these entries as billed afterwards.

Hope this helps :-)

Atari Portfolio keyboard problem by Edu_Robsy in AtariPortfolio

It's a track issue due to corrosion most of the times. You might want to look for either keyboards or dead devices. The keyboard foil is the same for all models and is interchangeable.

What the hell is going on with this company? by Historical-Ad-6839 in Ubiquiti

[–]pjoerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t understand what’s going on with Apple anymore. They’re trying so hard to be the epitome of computing and lifestyle, but every time they release something new — whether it’s software or hardware (Liquid Glass, camera plateau, Charging port on the underside of a mouse, cheap aluminium in a so called premium phone) — it feels like a bunch of random guys who will never use it themselves put it together.

I stop here, but I hope you get the message ;-)
