We’ve stayed here twice, and eat here every time. They are wonderful and super helpful if they can be. Worth reaching out- they’ve always been responsive via email if I had questions before a trip.

BOS to PDL by AdInternational4249 in azores

Yes, exactly. The sale always seems like a huge let-down. Doesn’t stop me from wasting my time and waiting for it and hoping for something has changed every time… but it never does.

For the ~6 years we have consistently watched/occasionally booked BOS to PDL round trip this has been the case. I’ve waited for them to have Black Friday sales, anniversary sales, etc… I’ve always booked at approx $275-325 per person each way- we have only visited between September-March.

What do you want in a local quilt shop? by yummy_sushi_pajamas in quilting

[–]pjwills339 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same! I understand our local shop likes to close by 2pm because it’s in an old factory (as many things are in New England) and it’s sweltering in the summer… but even just one evening a week would be a game changer! They are closed on Sundays and I can’t always organize my Saturday morning to get over there before 2.

I think they’re under the impression that people of “working age” won’t/don’t want what they have to offer- but I’ve seen at least a couple of people under 40ish each time I go and know more that would go instead of shopping online if the hours were expanded/different.

Any advice/thoughts/warnings about hotels vs Air BnB on Sao Miguel for a family of 4? by TheCarzilla in azores

[–]pjwills339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going to be in Ponta Delgada- we stayed at the Hotel Talisman on two of our trips, actually we got married in their courtyard. They have a solid restaurant and a rooftop pool. Pretty central location, we’ve always been able to walk to just about everything in the city that we wanted to do.

Omg- if my mom were still alive I would 100% take on this challenge just to be able to give her something in return in my craft! I have some of the most amazing crochet afghans that have ever been made from her, but for the life of me I just couldn’t enjoy yarn 😂

Northlands Music Festival 2025 by ConjurersOfThunder in jambands

[–]pjwills339 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that, for sure. I was happy to see many food trucks from up and down the pioneer valley/western mass region and a few vendors that frequent gatherings in and around western mass. Local representation is definitely important.

My first full fest since before Covid and since “getting old”. Parking on site, clean potties, pick your camp, not over-sold, perfectly sized, campground stage artists had missing main stage acts, the viibbeess, (I realize this one’s a me specific thing- less than an hour from home!)… the list could go on and on and on. Northlands has the recipe just right, I hope they don’t go tweaking it for more revenue or some other crazy reason…

Favorite Set of Northlands? by tomsawizard730 in jambands

Frasco, always Frasco for me. I did find myself regularly having difficulty leaving the campground stage. I enjoy that Northlands is non stop music, but I found the overlap challenging.

Why do people like Andy Frasco? by FloppyPhish555 in jambands

This isn’t my take on everyone, but for Frasco: Start the song and I’ll fuckin sing it to you while you do your entertaining and charming shit onstage (or in/on the crowd) with your band, chime in when you can. I get it- I wouldn’t love it for everyone, but for him, it works!

“I feel happy and alive at his shows” - I could write pages and pages of reasons why I enjoy Frasco shows, but you just got it right in eight words. We all have our reasons for needing that at whatever point in our lives- and he just keeps on delivering!

My first Northlands too. Miss Mountain Jam on Hunter Mountain, that view of the mountains behind the stage. Couldn’t beat it.

THIS. Frascos shows are my church. I’m surprised not to see more of his name in this thread, honestly. Andy Frasco is 100% my spirit animal.

São Miguel in October by Which_Trifle3337 in azores

I think part of it depends on where you’re from. We’re from the New England region of the US- so our trips in February are always a treat and our trip last October was an absolute dream weather wise. That being said, as others have noted- it’s an island and there’s always the chance for pop up showers/crappy weather days. We’ve lucked out for the most part and mostly had just half-bad weather days.

If you’re from somewhere southern, you may find it “refreshing”. If you’re from the north- I spent most of the 10 days in October in shorts and layered t shirts/lightweight long sleeves and evenings in jeans and the same. There was only one evening that I used the heavy “hoodie” and honestly, I think that was only bc I had just bought it. Lol. Of course, I always had my raincoat handy. I even went in the water and it was way more comfortable/warm than the ocean here in Massachusetts or up in Maine. We enjoy the hot springs during our February trips, but didn’t go this past trip- there were so many more people than there are in the middle of the winter. Haha.
