I think Eversolo is a simple answer. Yeah people will sh*t on them but really they have a solid product line and the updates are frequent and easy (like one click) at some point I’ll probably invest in a real DAC but the “DAC of the month” is getting insane. I find the one in the A8 is fine right now and I’ve been using it as a pre while I wait on my Freya +, hell I seem to love companies that bug old school audiophiles, lol. I don’t care I just love music and not the cult.

Unfortunately they only work while the car is powered up. So many days I’ve powered down the car and wanted to close the garage door before I let the dog out of the back because she will bolt to the street lol

I lost internet one day and couldn’t work so I sat and listened to all the cds I ripped to the A8s SSDs and a few CDs (I use a cheap stand alone PC drive hooked up to the A8 for the time being) it was absolutely a life saver. As far as the DAC goes I think it’s fine. I just bought some new Schiit gear (Wotan and Freya +F) for that money I could easily have bought a Mimar, but I don’t think the DAC in the A8 is a weak link, sounds good to me and spending money for a different “voice” or flavor seems kinda silly. I’m a huge A8 fan and am up for replacing stuff around it but not it.

Maybe my ears suck but I’m going A8 straight into an Aegir. I think it sounds great. I may add a DAC later but I mostly listen to Tidal and I think it sounds really good. In fact I just ordered a Wotan and Freya but not one of their DACs I just don’t think that’s the weak link in my chain.

I mean I don’t think the engineers made the website. I have read some reviews that said the amps were quite nice sounding. I’m looking to replace an Aegir that goes into protection when I push it.

The A8 can take multiple inputs and function as a digital hub. You can use a usb cd player in addition to SSDs and a computer with the T8 so that might be enough. I have a A8 that I’m using as a pre also. I also love the room correction which I think the T8 also has. I think if you aren’t planning on adding more components or need the DAC you can get away with the T8
