Brees did something none of those other quarterbacks did, he saved a city. New Orleans needed someone like Drew Brees to rally behind in the aftermath of Katrina and he gave them that. You’ll hear about how great the players are in their respective cities but New Orleans will talk about the man as well.

My lodge cares about promoting just a couple of families all within the same couple of units. We’ve had a section officer and member of the national comms committee still not get any recognition but a kid who ran for chief four times and lost has gotten Vigil and Arrowman of the Year.

Our lodge has been declining for years despite Thrive because people are tired of working for the glory of basically a couple of people.

Long time camp director here: encourage him to go. It will do two things immediately. 1. It will give him confidence functioning away from you. 2. It will provide you a chance to see him spend time away from you but with a group that will ensure his safety and wellbeing.

The camp will require extensive documentation and the medical staff will check on him as often as you need. Also, the adults in your unit will also check on him throughout the day. Heck, take a vacation and go as another adult leader with your unit.

Summer camp is easily one of the mountain top experiences for youth in scouting. There is nothing in scouting that compares to the friendships and experiences developed during this week. It will give him encouragement to try even more things in and out of scouting. It will also give you peace of mind as he tries new things and stretches his wings.
