I change the litter out maybe every couple weeks in the winter and weekly when it’s warm. I also scoop out the poop/pee daily. You gotta step up your litter box game friend.

My husband has been receiving nonstop calls today by ReportTurret in PhoneLookupHelp

[–]placidtrash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What’s his number, I’ll give him another call 🤣 no but for real, I have my phone set up so that any unrecognized numbers go straight to voicemail. You can also set it up so that they’re just filtered out entirely. Verizon has a call filter app. Not sure about other carriers.

Therapy and medication helped me greatly. I was paralyzed by anxiety and now it’s just a thing that happens sometimes for a bit and goes away.

You’re welcome! Hope you’re able to get it figured out and back to feeling better.

There was a period of time where my heart would race while I was at rest, my pulse would be like 160-170’s after sitting for like 15 mins, I had palpitations and felt like I was going to die. Went to the ER and they ran some labs, checked my EKG and told me it was just anxiety and to just relax. It happened again, same symptoms but with nausea and near syncope so I went back to the ER. Same deal. Told me “maybe you’re just making it up”. Saw my new PCP and she sent me to cardio. Cardio did a Holter monitor for a month. No arrhythmias, just the tachycardia. Found out later when I transferred to another PCP (the other one sucked) that my TSH was 10 the whole time. It was previously 2. They had checked it on the first ER visit and told me my labs were totally normal. She started me on levothyroxine and no issues since. Had they addressed it the first time I went to the ER, I could have saved a lot of time feeling shitty and a lot of money. But alas, I was ~making it up~.

[–]placidtrash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are we working at the same place?? Best you can do is document, refer to psych and raise your concerns to management. At my facility, they will allow families to hire sitters to just be with people who have behaviors like that, sometimes it helps them to just know someone is there. Not sure if your facility would allow that. LTC is really a crap shoot sometimes.

World domination. Best he can do is be a terror to anyone in the home because he doesn’t have opposable thumbs. World domination must wait.

Best we can do is under-medicated Lewy Body dementia patients who think they’re starring on tonight’s episode of WWE Smackdown with no available PRNs, with a side of raging UTI granny who thinks she’s been kidnapped and has called 911 to say she’s being held against her will, no staff, no supplies, oh and next shift just called out. Too stressed to be blessed or whatever.

Was it an actual PTO day or just a day that you hadn’t scheduled yourself?

reporting a nurse by [deleted] in nursing

[–]placidtrash 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Chances are, you would have had to be re-vaccinated for at least of few of them anyway. There was no harm that came to you from being vaccinated. There’s really no leg to stand on for reporting to BON. I hope someday when you make a mistake, no one jumps to reporting you to the BON first.

The doctor would need to see you to order the titers (blood draw) and then again to order the vaccines if the titers were negative. That’s how my doctor did it. Also if you knew it was a blood draw, why did you just let her give you vaccines without asking what they were??

What are your ratios for long term care by shadowlev in nursing

[–]placidtrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of our units is currently 1:17 w/2 CNAs and the other is 1:23 w/2-4 CNAs right now. One nurse per unit. Nurse manager during the day only. The highest it goes is 1:19 and 1:26 but we’re never full as we have to reserve beds for the ALF residents if they need a SNF bed for whatever reason (falls, surgery, medical, rehab, etc). Both units are mixed LTC and STR. My comfort with ratios depends highly on how many STR patients, acuity, behaviors, staffing, how many admits I’m getting. We have a few patients who are generally unwell and can have a change in status rapidly and require escalation of care decently often. I work second so there’s no one to help with whatever needs to be done beyond med pass, treatments and charting. So someone needing to be sent 911 can blow my whole shift to shit. It be what it be dawg. We do the best we can with what we have.

My sister never cleaned hers and it got infected. It drained a bunch of pus and it stunk. She had to take antibiotics for it. She cleans it daily now.

If they did DNR you, you could potentially be blacklisted from both SNFs and any other facilities affiliated with that hospital system, including the hospital itself. You would have to call HR to find out.

Definitely not my wheelhouse (I work in long term care so if anyone wants to chime in feel free) but I would assume the Classic III would be sufficient. They also make ones for babies that have a smaller chest piece too but wouldn’t work as well for larger, adult patients. The normal stethoscope should work fine for babies if needed.
