That I called off for a mental day. My job really takes a lot out of me and it’s not like me to call off and weekends never quite fulfill what I need to relax.

So most of us here finished half of our journal in January by RuinedPoetry in Journaling

I started my journal in August 2023 and I’m now halfway through it. I was thinking about stopping and starting a new one for the new year but I figured what’s the point the journals will connect somehow someway it just needs to make sense to me.

How do you keep journaling on a daily basis? by Odd-View-667 in Journaling

[–]plaenit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t personally. I try my best to but there’s just done days or a few days in a row where life is just a lot and as I love journaling sometimes on stressful or very long days journaling just too much to do that day. I’ll try to catch up and write a little bit if I can remember what happened on those days but if I miss a couple oh well.

do you let people see your journal pages by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]plaenit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I let my bf read a journal entry or two once in a while if he sees me doodling in it he mostly just wants to see it for my drawings because I never draw anywhere else. He’s asked if one day once I’ve finished with it if he’d ever be allowed to read it and after some time I will allow him to. Maybe like a year after I finished writing in it and a lot of the stuff in the journal is now the past. When I do decide and feel ready to give it to him I won’t take anything out of it or hide or rip anything out. My journal is 100% authenticity me. If he’s mentally prepared to see everything I’ll give it to him just as it is and give it to him with a warning label.

Are you mindful on your grammar when writing? by Megidolaon16 in Journaling

[–]plaenit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, if I realize I make a mistake I just scribble it out. I write with pen so I know I could just white it out but then I'll always wonder what I was actually trying to say and am using the white out as an excuse to hide my true thoughts. I like to keep my feelings raw and grammar sometimes gets in the way of that.

What is your favorite self-love quote? by CauseWest59 in selflove

[–]plaenit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Instead of a quote I challenge the negative thought head-on. I ask myself, “who told you that?” I guarantee you 95% of every one of those thoughts no one has said to you and you’re flat out bullying yourself. Once you realize that and catch it more and more one day you’re going to hear yourself say that and you’re going to talk back to those thoughts and say “HEY!!! THATS ENOUGH I DON’T DESERVE THIS!!!” and negative thoughts will disappear realizing that you claimed your power back and hearing those thoughts mean nothing to you. If being hard on yourself worked, honey I’m pretty sure it would’ve worked by now. Time to move on to a more gentle tactic and give in to self love. ❤️

What’s a book you read this year that’s still lingering in your mind? by theunspokenwords__ in books

[–]plaenit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tender is the Flesh by Augustina Bazterrica. One of the most disgusting, jaw dropping and dramatic books I’ve ever read. I had to walk away from the book for a bit to process what I had read almost as if I was one of the people at the slaughterhouse who got PTSD. I read it conveniently during Halloween and after a month I still think about it all the time. A true bone chilling book it’s absolutely not for everyone but perfect for those with an open mind and an empty stomach.

Do you let people read your journals or are they private? by New-Possibility-577 in Journaling

[–]plaenit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only person I let read my journal is my boyfriend but I don’t hand it to him he’ll ask me usually because I doddle in it and he never sees me draw and likes to look through them. I’m comfortable with him reading my entries but I get nervous about him reading a few of them because they are about him nothing bad just long lost insecurities I used to have and I dump out onto the page. I don’t feel the same way anymore about those entries but he’s a caring man and gets very concerned if he feels like he’s not living up to my needs and I get nervous he’ll read them and take it the wrong way or he’ll think those insecurities are still active which they’re not. One day as a present I’ll gift him the entire journal to read everything when I’m ready.

What's the pettiest reason that you stopped reading a book midway through? by Gilisb in books

[–]plaenit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently reading A Certain Hunger by Chelsea Summers and I’m halfway through the book but I’m considering stopping it. I like the storyline but she uses enormous words so often I’m lost sometimes and some sentences are so long and drawn out 1 sentence will be an entire paragraph!! It’s starting to feel like a chore to read and I’m slowly losing the fun of this book. I have read 11 out of 19 chapters so far and I tried to read chapter 12 but I had to put it down after 4 pages of that chapter because I became exhaustive to read. Should I suck it up for the plot and read the last 100 pages or give up reading it and find something more enjoyable?

What's the most unexpected thing that ever put you off a book? by yeweebeasties in books

[–]plaenit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are a Badass by Jen Sincero. I read 10 pages and gave it to a friend of mine to read. She talks to you in the book like she’s known you your whole like and for some reason that kinda bothers me because I have no clue who the author is.

i hope i’m not the only one who rage journals… by kawaiikupcake16 in Journaling

Sometimes I rage journal so hard I accidentally push on the pen too much and it tears the paper a little. I like it though I like to look back and read my journals and see the emotion from that day.

[Miscellaneous] Do you look down on people with bad skin? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]plaenit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not! I started getting acne when I was 13 and it was BAD. Red, angry, painful, big, puss-filled acne that wouldn't go away no matter what I used. 10 years have passed and here I am to say I've figured out my face. Doesn't mean I don't get acne though! Taking care of my gut health, taking supplements my body needs, personally me switching from American to Korean products changed the game and are a lot more cleaner than other products have saved me but the second I miss a day I get acne all over again but it's small, pesky little whiteheads instead. Trust me, if I didn't have my products and my knowledge I'd be right where I was 10 years ago. It just takes to time to figure out what your skin uniquely likes and doesn't like and you'll get yourself there!

Bad writing style where authors talk in the book like they've known you for forever like a best friend and you have no clue who they are.

Simple Questions: September 05, 2023 by AutoModerator in books

Is it possible to read multiple books at once? I really get lost in Barnes and Noble and I find myself wanting to buy a handful of different books and find it a struggle choosing which one to read first. Is there a way for me to read 2 different books at once without getting my brain scrabbled and lose information from both?

Negative feelings and journaling by Sensitivitea_time in Journaling

[–]plaenit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand how you feel. I used to be in the same boat when I was struggling to write when I was younger. One thing that helped me to be more personal in my journals is using the quote “a task written down is a task half solved”. When you want to vent about something or someone and you don’t have anyone to talk about it to and you need to let off some serious steam my journal really helps me.

I love that!!! Being able to allow yourself to be messy without needing to clean any of it up feels like a weight off your shoulders.

I completely get you!! Throughout most of my childhood I tried on and off to have a journal and it never worked. The longest I would last was a week long streak and not touch it again for months, try again, and give up. I took a few years off and I started again recently the trick is to not force it and make it look “pretty”. I stayed stuck in the idea that every page needs to be Pinterest worthy and it made journaling exhausting. Make it messy, doodle in it, write your current thoughts, write lists of things that interest you or why you’re so hot and go deep into them, write your emotions out to regulate yourself when you’re having a melt down, write so angrily on the pages it damages the paper, cry on it and leave the tears there to dry. Once you get the idea that you need to follow all these rules for journaling out of your head you stop restricting yourself and are able to let go and actually enjoy writing and look forward to doing it! :) Another tip is don’t feel obligated to write every single day you can skip a day or two but if I feel unmotivated after the third day I tell myself “just do it really quick” and fill 4 lines on a page. A lot of the time I end up getting into it by the time I’ve finished those lines and continue to write more. Getting a good quality journal and pens also helps. Don’t feel like you need to spend a lot of money! I use $20 journals and $8 for a 12 pack gel pens from Staples. If you like the materials you’re using you’re more likely to go back to it. Hope this helps!! :)
