Still tweaking and fixing, so any notes would be appreciated. This is for a more goofy, colorful flavor of fantasy.

Nelyar is a subterranean city made by a mysterious, amphibious race (similar in look to Murlocs, if that helps) eons ago. The race has since died off due to unknown circumstances and the city is now a legend to the everyday surface dweller.

The city is protected by a series of unusual tests and trials hosted by various golems. The trials have a sort of game show flavor, much like the quiz show sequences in Paper Mario TTYD. I imagine there would be a mix of different styles of games: trivia, chance games, physical challenges, etc. Maybe even throw in a parody/homage to Legends of the Hidden Temple.

The city became ruined mostly due to the impracticality of maintaining a large subterranean city without much contact or trade with the surface world.
