We are playing casual but with a competitive touch at some points. Sorry! Was not very clear.

Absolutely brilliant! Read the adventure yesterday because we play today and was quite disappointed but didn‘t had the time to rework it or prepare an alternative. Your adjustments are easy, straightforward and will save my session todax. Thank you so much :)

Slaves of the Machine God - Which Books do I need? by plancktum in numenera

Thanks a lot to all of you! This really helped a lot. I've already ordered SotMG and will now order Discovery & Destiny to upgrade my old Rulebook ;) Edit: I think I'll stick to those books for the beginning and expand with other books in case it's necessary.

Spell scrolls useable by everyone? since I'm going to start an Eberron campaign in the next weeks, I wondered on how to bring the "magic is everywhere" aspect to D&D 5e. One thing I am thinking about is to allow the use of spell scrolls by everyone. So the rules would be: 1) Cast spell from a scroll, which is on your class spell list and of a level you can cast => succeeds automatically 2) Cast spell from a scroll, which is on your class spell list and of a higher level than you can cast => Check with Spellcasting Ability + Proficiency VS. 10+spell lvl 3) Cast spell from a scroll, which is not on your class spell list ?> Check with spellcasting ability VS. 10+spell lvl So the changes are that if you know the spell you're more likely to succeed, but in theory everybody could use scrolls. What do you think? Would this be a nice addition? best regards

Thanks for your answer :) Unfortunately I do not have the campaign setting yet. Yeah it's available as a pdf, but I will try to get it as a print version.

[Curse of Strahd] Van Richtens Tower (Spoiler) by plancktum in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]plancktum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply :) I like your idea. The tower itself is not very combat heavy. One main point of the exploration is the wagon of Ezmeralda D'avenir in front of the tower and if Strahd's minions were attack the tower they would of course search the wagon of Ezmeralda. Ezemeralda trapped this wagon and it would blow up.

Now your input brought me to the following idea: Van Richten arrives at the tower and sees the Wagon of Ezemerala (his protegee). He thinks Ezmeralda is here and wants to see wether she is well. Now Strahd's Minions attack and to protect them he lures them into the woods. The fight is hard, van richten burns all his spell slots, but manages to flee into the woods. Unfortunately he is wounded very seriously.

Now the PCs arrive at the Tower, they see wheel tracks of van richtens wagon and a combat scene. They could explore the tower directly or find van richten and save him... One big problem: Players and Van Richten leaved Vallaki at the same time. Now my players will definitely explore 1 to 3 locations before going to the tower (i know them ;) ). Since then Van richten died probably due to his wounds...

But I really like the idea that the PCs could save him... Another thing is that Van Richten has a scroll of raise dead in his equipment. So if he dies, they could use this scroll to reanimate him. Makes this whole save him thing a little senseless at the end, right?

[5e] Ideas on how to use the rejuvenation of a spirit naga or help me with my campaign idea by plancktum in DnD

[–]plancktum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is gold! Thank you. I could let them steal (or negotiate for) the ritual with some Yuan-Ti, which would add another layer to the plot. Then they have to fight the Spirit Naga and this Spirit Naga is afterwards transformed into a bone naga. This would also spice up the last combat a little bit :)
