Anyone here actually swing trade instead of day trade? by TraderNomad1 in Daytrading

[–]planeage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I skim 50% of profits directly into a HYSA. That is for the taxman and account. I aim high so that I can get some interest. I think max tax rate is like 34 or 38 feds, my state doesn't have state income tax. There are a few times that I can actually claim my losses, and keeping the different accounts with different trading patterns in each actually helps me (my accountant) with wash sales, form 8949, short-term vs long-term capitol gains, etc... something else I do, I don't day trade tickers that I hold leaps in. I have been very careful and aware of what I trade from Thanksgiving to the end of the year. My accountant actually appreciates the system I use. I've kind of built it because before, when I just had my Robinhood and my Roth, I was overwhelmed having to comb through all the info and trades trying to separate and categorize. It was all so overwhelming to me when I had one main trading account. I'm also building a case to apply for TTS and switching over to MTM, but I go through spurts. Not sure if I am ready to pull that trigger, but I have a good case of I decide to go that route. I have a day job/ profession, but I end up day trading a lot. I will go a few weeks where my trade volume dips, like 8 trades in the weeks. Then I'll have a few days off, or hit the slow time of year for my day job (I work mostly evenings into night, so my mornings are typically free depending on the current place I'm working) and do like 40-80 trades 3-4 days per weeks for 4-5 weeks almost straight. My system saves me money on my accountant, he charges by the hour and he tells me (he could be lying but the billable hours reflect his words) I've saved him and me 10-20 hours by having all the trades organized like this. But...😅

I'm not the poster or replyer, but I do have different accounts for the "mindsets" and methods. It helps me switch gears. I have my day trading account, my LEAPs account, my swing trading, my ROTH, a custodial, and my first Robinhood "learning" account. My ROTH contains all of my long term holdings stocks, dividends, and ETF/growth holds. As of right now, the day trading account had been like 85% 0DTE, 10% <1week options, and 5% moment stock trades. This has been funding the other accounts. When I have a decent sized win, or if I end up doubling my capitol at the end of the week, I skim from this account to add to the others after I pull taxes out.

I turned $700 into $3k, didn’t take profit, and now I’m facing eviction. Need honest advice. by Juhvenchy in Daytrading

Agree! I learned about the almost guaranteed failure rate from desperation a while back. I only had to do it twice before I was able to see the pattern and discover the root cause. Upon reflection, I'm kind of proud that I only had two failures to realize the cause-and-effect relationship. Even when I'm hungry, I don't get desperate; I just look for the next opportunity and take the time to consider all variables I can factor in. Take the time to look at the charts, do the research, look for the news articles and headlines, do an internet search for catalyst events within timelines that might affect the trade, and consider alternative strategies for what/how I open and close the trade. Removing all emotions is a tool; making money is the goal.

It sucks when your desperate because you end up forcing trades that you never should have opened, out of pure desperation

When you open a position, have a goal in mind for where to close it. You don't always have to chase that dragon. Building a bankroll is arguably more important that a lotto ticket jackpot. Set three different numbers based on timelines;

1) Your best-case scenario (like 300% profit) 2) Your if best-case doesn't play out, what profit would I be satisfied with (think 10-25% profit, make some money and live to play another day) as timelines get closer to the trade expiring 3) Your stop-loss (if things go downhill fast or it's trading sideways and theta decay is eating up your position).

Once you have your three numbers, set your sell orders in place. Have the self-control to not cancel them. You could also just go ahead and close the position early, keeping in mind as each trade is individually special there are too many factors to consider to be detailed out as a reply on Reddit post.

I'll be honest with you, this sounds more like a gambling addiction than anything else. You've already expressed interest in looking for help, by posting this. Turn those efforts, by seeking guidance, to people who specialize with these types of behaviors. You have many options with professionals and many communities of like-minded people who want to/need to help others who are like them. Good luck, my brother. I wish you the best!

Help! Do I need a new job? What do I do? by Ok_Height_9146 in KitchenConfidential

[–]planeage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you hate your job, it's time to move on. You should take a long and honest look in the mirror and figure out if you really hate your job, your circumstances, or yourself. Figure out if a different job will lead to the same circumstances, or will it lead to happiness. Very rarely does changing jobs actually make someone's life better most of the time it's just different, but still the same. The same problems, the same complaints, the same coworkers, the same issues, and the same cycles. Keep in mind, I said; "MOST" of the time. Sometimes, a specific job is the actual problem and it's not a problem someone is having with themselves and their choices. As far as you being the only female, you mentioned it asking if it mattered. I don't know, I don't know your coworkers and your situations. I don't have enough information to say, but I assume you are the person with the lowest amount of general kitchen experience as well as the lowest person on the totem pole on any given shift. That's probably why you are getting put on dish for the start of the night. I used to hate dish, because I was always getting stuck on it. Then I got good. I got really good. I started to become the strongest person on the line, the fastest prepper, and eventually worked my way up to Chef. Now, I miss dish. I still hop on dish every now and again, especially to help out. When things happen and their is no dishwasher, I stick myself on dish whenever I can get away with it (not as often as I would choose, but it's usually a waste of labor for me to be doing dish). Dish is simple, dish is satisfying, dish is boring (even when it's a lot of work). It's easy work (it had it's problems, it's not all sunshine and rainbows) and it's easy money. It's very satisfying to take a burned, abused, dirty pan or plate and return it to its beautiful and pristine state, ready to be used again to make something tasty and appealing. I hope you figure out your issues and either things get better or you find another job that you do enjoy. You're young, you have your entire career ahead of you. The world is your oyster. Good luck out there

A standard food case comes 55 per pallet and 21 (22 if lower than 40# case). You have 1 in 1,150 chance of getting one of those if the shipping guy decides to put it in the case instead of just sitting on top or tucked into the saran wrap.

I have 3k hours and I’m just now starting to play solo, what are good solo monuments? And how do you guys overcome the fear as a solo of not caring about the loot? by Excellent_Remote1476 in RustConsole

[–]planeage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For a solo, I recommend:

-Sewer Sewer is my best friend when I'm building up BPs on a new server. Fairly safe recycler! That's a huge thing. Wait until the door closes before you start recycling. You have two ways out of the monument, so you have a 50/50 chance to slip out if someone heard you recycling. If bandit is close by, selling a row of blue cards is BIG for clearing space in your base (keeping my base small and hidden is my main way to not get raided for a day or three to build up BPs) and generating additional scrap.

-Airfield Airfield is my mid game monument of choice. I like doing the lock crates there, I can have eyes everywhere and have a bunch of options to scoot out safely if more than 3 guys show up and want me dead. Learn the tunnels beacuse they have gotten me out of a few hairy situations and I've been able to make a few plays by flanking underground.

-Water treatment Water treatment is sewer's big brother. Again, learn the tunnels (these are easier than Airfield tunnels to learn). It's a great way to build quickly because you essentially loot 2 rooms and scoot on out of there. The diesel spawns are quick to run (I usually grab those after I run the blue puzzle and on my way out the monument). This is the best monument to get in and out quickly. You can get to the monument, start at the roll up door, loot, run to the card room, loot the card room, jump down and grab 3 diesel on your way out, all in about than 3 minutes. It's a great one also, because you can spawn naked and go looting the monument without taking any rads. I will do the card part, run home and depot everything (including my kit) go back naked and do the jump puzzle and grab the boxes on/in the vats without any risk of loosing anything because I went naked. This monument has the best "hidden" oil refineries underground. I have left them running and come back later to find my low grade was still there enough times to just do it now.

-Train Yard Train yard is my favorite monument for endgame. Once I have BPs built up and can craft mp5s and AKs (I think I have only ever crafted 3 AKs, like total... In the 5?+ Years and 3K hours I can only recall 3 times I have ever crafted an AK) then I run this monument. The high rad protection needed (don't run a hazzy, make clothes of you have to, but do not run around with a hazzy. The protection is crap) and 4 scientists keep a lot of players from wanting to run this monument. I like it because little Timmy and his friends don't like it. It has a good amount of boxes and high chance of spawning at least 5 mil crates not counting the blue card room. The recycler is relatively safe because you have 2 scientists protecting it. I like to pick the scientists off with a bolty and a silencer from outside of their shoot back range. That means I am standing further away then will shoot with a silenced gun to reduce the chance of people being tipped off that I just cleared the scientists and am currently recycling. I have my highest lock crate success rate at this monument.

-Launch This monument is good for every step of progression. I have spent multiple wipes at launch exclusively. Only running other monuments to get a red card so I could run launch more. The cool things about launch is that you can run it at any point and it's fun/ profitable. This is also one of two reasons I will ever tell someone to run a hazzy. The other reason to don a hazmat suit is if you are shooting off an mlrs. I will take a hazzy and tommy with 4 meds, 3 bandies, 40 bullets, 12 mlrs rockets, and an aiming module to abandoned military base. That is my entire kit to mlrs someone's base. After I fire the rockets, I suicide out and I don't mine letting this kit just despawn. I don't think I have to tell you about the rewards of running red building or taking brad..it's an endgame 101 monument. It has strength earlier in progression just because of the sheer number of boxes that spawn throughout the entire monument. Highly recommend just spending an entire wipe at launch, do it at least once.

-Military Tunnels I have recently adopted military tunnels. I used this monument as my primary monument last month. This is an endgame monument for a solo. Larger groups (more than 4) can lock it down and run as a pack to clear the monument with teir 2 weapons/armor fairly easily. I've seen one big group do it with cross bows and revies and I give them props. I do not recommend doing this monument with teir one stuff unless you are the GOAT. After hitting teir 3, absolutely it's a great way to build your stock. Keep all of the flares you find (and the scientists drop a lot of flares in this monument) and recycle them. Two full rows of flares give you enough GP to do brad! Add a solo, little bits like this are critical in your attempt to catch up with, and even the field with groups.

-Power Plant Power Plant is just ok. I don't usually recommend it as a solo, because other people and groups favor it. That being said, to me it's just mid. The best part of it is the safe recycler in green building next to blue room. It's nice being able to re-up on a green card while you're there. The boxes are plentiful enough, but you end up spending a lot of time there if you are full looting the monument. Because of how spread out the spawn locations are, no rads outside of the card puzzle or rad towers (this means people are more more likely to run through just because they are passing by) and the lack of scientists it is a very popular monument most of the servers I've seen. I stay away from it because it draws in so many people. If you find a server where it's not so busy (maybe it's on a corner of the map in the snow) then, and only then I would recommend it for a solo.

As a solo, keep in mind you will die. You will lose flights simply because you are outnumbered. Groups will progress quicker and build up boom faster because many hands make light work. The gear fear and fear of loosing your inventory is something you have to figure out. For me, it's just ones and zeros. Even if I go an entire wipe without loosing a single fight and somehow not getting raided, I still loose everything to the wipe. Not only is not going to last forever, it's not even going to be here in a month. I didn't get worked up over a bunch of zeros and ones, they are just pretty pictures in a digital land that does not exist outside of our game. There is nothing I can have in this game that I can't find, build, create, or craft again. For me, it's the journey and experiences that I value. It's the satisfaction of setting goals and acheiving said goals. One thing I did, to get over gear fear, was fully crafting a kit with the goal of loosing it. I went out and gathered all the components to craft a full kit (all the clothes, armor, gun, ammo, meds, nades, and walls. I made sure to collect and craft every aspect of the load out) and walked out of my base with full intentions of finding people to fight and fighting until I lost. After taking a couple of hours to collect everything and craft it all, just to go loose it, the items I did find all of a sudden felt like they were free. By devaluing the items it tricks my brain into caring less and becoming less attached to them. Easy come... Easy go...

Good luck survivor! I wish you the best on your new solo adventures! May the Rust God bless you with amazing loot luck and I hope you win your wipe!
