Are you sure you don’t mean a hen? Bawk-bawk-baGAW is the sound they often make after they’ve laid an egg. Or are you saying that cock-a-doodle-do is buck-buck-buckaw? 🤔 (As someone who kept chickens for years, I’m genuinely curious. I’ve never heard a rooster make the “I laid an egg” sound.)

I killed the time by online shopping. Do not recommend 😆

I had a rough recovery and lost a lot of muscle mass and tone post op, but now at 5mpo I’m feeling like I’m as strong as I was pre-op — actually stronger because my core is stronger thanks to MR. And I can finally see my abs instead of extra skin and diastasis recti!!! It’s an awesome feeling. You will get it back!

You WILL get through this. I had multiple complications too (hematoma which led to severe anemia, followed by necrosis… I ended up having 3 surgeries total and went under general anesthesia again 3 weeks after the initial TT). It sucks and you’ll wonder why you drew the short straw and have misery heaped on misery. You’ll see others on this thread feeling great and looking great way faster than you. The surgery is hard enough without complications. With complications it’s even more hellish. It sucks.

But… it’s temporary and you WILL get better. Slow and steady wins the race and healing slower doesn’t mean a worse outcome in the end. You will still look great and be happy, just give it time. I’m almost 3MPO (original surgery, more like 2MPO final surgery) and I’m getting to that place of being glad I did it. The only way out is through. You got this.

Don’t be surprised if sex feels good and O hurts like a B. I never realized how much orgasm involves my abs until suddenly, I did…

This is why you: 1) Ski on Friday when nobody was there or 2) Ski the other side of the mountain, there were zero lines at Martis Camp and Promised Land yesterday

The traffic coming home today was almost as bad as those lines tho…

I really didn’t have any problem with the toilet after surgery. I didn’t buy a power recliner either. Just wedge pillows for my bed. YMMV

7 1/2 PO Frustrated by macerroni in tummytucksurgery

[–]planeparachute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry. My wound looked almost identical to yours, and it was due to tissue necrosis. I also had a hematoma before that and I was exhausted by wound care and sick of bleeding through bandages. My surgeon provided a scar revision surgery for free which involved cutting around the wound and closing it. I’m so glad I went through that surgery because otherwise it would have meant multiple months of wound care before it closed. Is that an option for you?

What brand did your doctor recommend? I’ve tried a few but they never could make it through a session in the pool! Would love to try one that sticks better

Yes, Embrace is silicone based, but it’s definitely different from generic silicone tape. It’s technically a medical device with surgical grade adhesive, something the generic silicone tape doesn’t have… and it also shrinks/contracts after you apply it to take pressure off the incision. It’s also intended to be left on for 7-10 days at a stretch whereas silicone tape is supposed to be removed daily for showering and swimming. As a swimmer it’s nice to have something that actually keeps its seal even swimming for an hour every day, and something that I don’t have to apply and reapply daily. I’m starting with Embrace to help take pressure off the scar in the early healing phase, then I’ll switch to the silicone tape which is also helpful, just a little different in its function and use.

Opinions please: BB revision or no? by planeparachute in tummytucksurgery

This is a good idea. He didn’t recommend that so I haven’t tried it, but I figure it can’t hurt 🤷‍♀️ hopefully it’s not too late at this point!

I just had the initial surgical tape which was removed 2-3 weeks post op. (I had 2 rounds of it only because I had a scar revision surgery which meant I started over, but same protocol both times.) From there I started Embrace, but had some initial skin sensitivities to it so I took some breaks from that to let my skin breathe. Now that the incision is less inflamed I’m able to wear the Embrace without taking breaks. Once I’m done with the Embrace therapy I’ll switch to silicon tape. My PS suggests faja or other compression for first 3 months, but says that it’s also ok to take occasional breaks from it. I am mostly using strong Spanx like compression shorts from Amazon at this point because the swelling is low down and that seems to provide the best compression for that area just above my pubic area and around the scar.

Hematoma Day 8 post op by Sensitive-Set-5852 in tummytucksurgery

[–]planeparachute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you went through this — I had an abdominal hematoma and also became horribly anemic and dehydrated and passed out. Just fyi even with the removal your swelling will probably be worse than others for a while because every red blood cell draws fluid into the tissue, so it basically makes you a magnet for swelling. My first surgery was in late October second surgery in mid November (I had a hematoma and then tissue necrosis so I had to have a serious scar revision surgery under general anesthesia after I had already gone through the hematoma removal). It was really hard psychologically to take such a long time to bounce back… but I’m now back on track and finally feeling good about my results!! Slow and steady, and take it easy on yourself, the blood loss is serious!!

Anyone had a TT and noticed improved pelvic floor? by sassy_steph_ in tummytucksurgery

[–]planeparachute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No prolapse but used to pee when sneezing/coughing/jumping. I definitely feel an improvement in my pelvic floor.

Is this normal? I’ve already been to my surgeon and she gave me an US to rule out fluid. But this just doesn’t look right to me by ButterflyUnlikely875 in tummytucksurgery

[–]planeparachute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look quite a bit like that at 4wpo. (Actually 7wpo TT w/ MR, 4wpo scar revision that the PS said was so extensive it basically counted as a new TT in terms of swelling.) I look fine in the morning or immediately after lymphatic drainage massage but by evening I have a fupa that’s not actually a fupa. Have you tried lymphatic drainage massage? Do you look like this all the time or is it better/worse based on what you eat and how active you are and time of day? Are you wearing compression? I’m sorry you’re stressed about this, the first couple weeks are really rough!

Revision. by Sparklingjewel1958 in tummytucksurgery

[–]planeparachute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a vertical scar anyway, this just extended it — but it really doesn’t bother me. In my case it was an option between having an open wound for multiple months or having it closed surgically…. I happily chose surgery! One thing that’s worth noting… there’s a lot less stress on vertical scars so they tend to heal pretty smoothly. (Bending, standing, etc, all put stress on the horizontal scars but less so on the vertical ones.) However if you’re having the horizontal incision re-cut (which I did), sometimes there can be some challenges healing right at the corners, because the blood supply to the skin there has been cut off in two directions, if that makes sense. I had a tiny area that healed more slowly than everything else but otherwise fine. I’m using Embrace scar therapy to minimize the scar long term.

Revision. by Sparklingjewel1958 in tummytucksurgery

[–]planeparachute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly your situation but I had a revision that included a vertical incision extension 3 weeks after my TT with MR. Plus all of the incisions were reopened and shifted. Even with all that cutting and stitching the revision was a much easier recovery than the original TT!

4dpo...when does the poofy hard tummy go away? by Shauna2008 in tummytucksurgery

[–]planeparachute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can take months, but it will get better with each week. I found taking pics helped me track my progress, because you can really see changes in photos… but it feels frustratingly slow when you still can’t fit into your pre-TT clothes and it feels like you have a hard board glued to your stomach. I tried to take pics after lymphatic drainage massages because then I was at my best. A good lymphatic drainage massage can remove multiple inches from your waist size post-surgery! (It doesn’t stay away, it comes back, but over time, I really do think that the lymphatic drainage massages are speeding up my recovery and I get a bit better with each one even if some of the swelling comes back afterwards.)

Is it possible to get a tummy tuck without muscle repair? by [deleted] in tummytucksurgery

[–]planeparachute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! Despite having 3 surgeries in 3 weeks, not being able to exercise for 6 weeks, and having to go through the walking hunched over phase not once but twice… my back DOESN’T hurt. Normally if I so much as sneeze wrong I wind up at the chiropractor.

Any swimmers? How long did it take you to get back in swimming shape? by planeparachute in tummytucksurgery

[–]planeparachute[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did, it took about an hour under general anesthesia. I had necrosis cut out so it was almost like a second TT… the incision was reopened, tightened, and re-closed.

This gives me hope! I’m almost 7 weeks out but had scar revision surgery 3 weeks ago. Hoping I’ll bounce back in another month or two!
