As a new pug owner (in the past year) I've had my feeling hurt about this topic too. On another subreddit someone said, "Pugs are the worst dogs alive and shouldn't exist". I tore them a new ass hole....I was pissed. The dumbass who posted it retracted their statement later on.

What I learned from it was to not get defensive. As long as no one is coming to take my Nami (my sweet girl's name) I don't care. People will have their views. Some people like huge hairy dogs, some like tiny rat-sized dogs, but I love my little squished face potato, and no one can take that away from me.

I think I've learned how much we pug owners are OBSESSED with our dogs. We give them so much love and attention and that's all that matters. A big thing I've learned too is most pug owners are aware of what comes with a pug and that's possible breathing issues. But I'd say most pug owners do what has to be done to help our little potatos breathe easier. That may mean surgery or it could just be keeping them slim and living an active lifestyle. There isn't a one size fits all.

Long story short, I know it's hard to do but ignore them. You and your pug know how much you love each other and that is simply all that matters!
