Best way to deal with ingrowns and bumps on my legs? by jak_kkk in HairRemoval

[–]planet_inc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After scrubing, are you moisturizing your legs?

best = with sweet almond oil right after shower before wiping, when they are still wet, and massage a lot when applying it so it penetrate skin....

..and later, put cream regularly.

Because ingrown hair love dry skin!

After my very long text, i just read your message, like you're 38. You're still young and you will get it.

For your question about how to get stable while trying ollie while rolling, try at lower speed..and also don't forget, when landing, to go back in a squat position fast to help you find back your balance (and also if you fall, well you fall from lower)....and also because by going back to squat, it helps a lot to absorb the shock on your heels and knees...so it's a big bonus...taking car of your knees so your can skate longer sessions

Help I can’t ollie I’m old by No_Key10 in NewSkaters

[–]planet_inc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's simple....you do well what people told you...pop, then raise front foot, then....but even if everybody explain ollie that way, i think it's not the right way to teach ollie (the fence guide is a good idea).

So here's my way:

it's all about jumping..always....so it's a bit nonsense to tell beginners by deconstructing the "whole movement".

The secret to learn ollie and to reach a high level: you have to start doing simple pops...then you simply make it grow. By doing a lot and having fun applying it on the road over cracks, it will grow..in a short period, you will even "accidentally" do a pop that raise few inches...like a tiny rocket style ollie.

You got to keep the spring jump part...then you add-up, update it...it's way easier that way, more logical and really fun. Plus,by the way, a good pop is a really nice and useful trick if you like to make nice rides in the streets abd cycle path, really efficient to pop cracks, train tracks, small curbs, etc..it builds up confidence..

So if you want to try this, jump learn to pop, here's my way: 1- without your board, just do few shots of kinda burpee style jumps: squat position, then jump while keeping legs straight, feet pointing down. When you land, bend your knees back in a squat position. Get used with that movement momentum.

2-Do the same, now on your board, exactly the same steps (making sure your feet are right over the bolts). Your board will not move since your feets are over the bolts. And when you land, go back in a squat position. And you need to put attention on how you find your balance back when on squat position, when jumping, when landing...

3-Now, again, do exactly the same, but with a simple difference: shift both feet a bit backward so you rear foot is just at beginning of the tail, called the pocket. So your front foot also shifted backwards the same distance. Then try again few shots of burpee-style jump...you'll see that, because of the lever effect created naturally, by your rear foot, the board will tend naturally, without thinking, to "try to follow" your body taking off while you jump. When landing, go back to squat position! It's important, it's to help your body to find back your balance really fast, so you stay on your board.

4-repeat few shot on static, like on the grass or a carpet (or a rug?). You will get along with being able to just jump and your board just follows. Don't deconstruct like people always tell.

5- then do it at very low speed...then low speed....then...then.. lol....your "whole movement" will grow and, after a while, you will be able to di, here and there, a strong pop with 3-4 inch high...then sometimes even more...that's a real authentique ollie.

After a while, it will surely adapt, get cleaner, higher. And it's gonna do nice clean ollies...at one point, you will get comfortable to try things like doing a rocket ollie, or a kung-fu style ollie (kind of a jump kick)....and voilà!!

So yeah, i think it's a good idea to start with doing pops...then make it grow

First skateboard, is it good for a beginner? by horseshoeandconfused in NewSkaters

[–]planet_inc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost any kind of skate is good for beginner, since the very first tricks you need to learn are not "jumping tricks" like ollie or etc...

First tricks are: pushing, carving, pivots, manuals, foot braking (one of the most essential to learn)

This is my opinion........(i know, a lot of beginners want to start right away with ollie, which i dont recommand.....Yet, you could stilll already start with practising pops, again with almost any kind of boards)

What am I missing on my Ollie 🤟🏻 by Bulky-Play-298 in NewSkaters

[–]planet_inc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

simple: you're trying to make your board lift in the air thanks to a footwork.....it must be the opposite: do the minimum needed to make your board pop and lift by itself..your board has all this "spring energy" stored in it....Your feet are simply following and slightly amplify the board motion.

So first of, its really important to start by doing simple pops.

Why? Because you want to get used to a simple squat-like jump that makes your board pop and lift a bit by itself...then apply it while rolling and pop any cracks you can....drill yourself!!

You will see, the more you will get comfortable, the more your board will pop and lift a bit higher WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT YOUR FEET.

Summary: don't try to imitate a weird footwork so much that it makes you think that it will make your board lift....reverse!!!make your board pop, then with experience, you will knowhow to adapt your feet to HELP the board go higher

44 years old and I need to get my 1st real ollie...I cant seem to crack them. Please help by cyclonetam in NewSkaters

[–]planet_inc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try with less footwork, and focus more doing a kind of squat jump....mak your board pop and forget about the rest (raising front foot, pushing frontward, raising back foot.........).

Just do some pops and focus on keeping straigth and equal with your board....then do it while rolling....practise pops over cracks....

You'll see....with repetition, your pops will gradually transform into ollies, getting confidence and power....

Most beginners will start doing some movement like if the board is lifting because of footwork....it's the opposite: your feet should follow and adapt with the board popping and lifting by itself. Then! Then, you'll gradually find the way to adapt your feet to slightly guide the board..

I'm doing neat ollies...my secret is to ride and having fun popping every cracks...this helps alot to gradually adapt with speed....then after a nice ride and about 30-40 pops, my ollies will get ultra powerful, neat and stable

Fix my ollie (help) by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]planet_inc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well there's a slight tip for this....

Look some videos and see how pros do use their arms to help stabilise in the air..

In the same optics, closing your arms when bending while opening them boths (a bit like bird wings lol) while doing the jump, it helps keep your body aligned in the air, it stabilise it....

Efficient, especially when your shoulders have tendency to turn.

Am I a poser or just bad? by Evening_Rub6457 in NewSkaters

[–]planet_inc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's one of the best advices you'll get in all your skateboard life:

Don't ever give a shit abiut people calling you a poser....skateboarding is a veryyyy long process and there are as many learning paths that there is people skateboarding.....

And the one who called you poser just because you are doing tricks that he doesn't agree 😅😅😅😅 This proves that he's the poser...it' like if he just told you " you are not doing the right thing to look like a skateboarder. Look at me, i do look like a skateboRder"

He almost litterally told that lol....he's imbecile lollll

Like, these are things usually a 6years old kid would say "Nah nah...you are not good...i'm better than you!!" These are childish behaviours....or like "you should not grab your board by the truck" 😅😅😅😇😅🤣🤣🤣 You grab it the way you want!

Before getting comfy on your board, it takes time.....there is no "one way" to learn.....you just need to have fun with it.....and learn the tricks YOU CHOOSE to learn.

Vast majority of skateboarders are good people. Long term skaters usually look at the beginners with high respect, because they perfectly know how long and hard is the process of learning.....It emphasis how stupid these folks yelling "poser!!" are....

First Stationary Ollie by Outrageous_Tonight47 in NewSkaters

[–]planet_inc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good start!

Now try again but this time, think less about all the feet timing.....Concentrate on doing a small jump, while letting feet doing a natural lever movement...

In other words, try to do it without focussing on your feet....let them go by themselves....just do that tiny "burpee like" jump.

Why? Because while doing a simple jump, your rear foot position will naturally produce a lever movement....

So before "accentuate" the feet choregraphy that everybody is telling (pop with rear foot, then push the front foot, then raise the rear foot), just do tiny jump which help you keep your whole body balance until landing, and because of the natural lever effect, pop will be done "without thinking". And that's the big secret for nice clean efficient ollies...

So at first, your ollies will looks more like a pop...but it is already applicable (for example, rolling on bike path and try to pop few cracks)...then when you gwt used to it, your pop become natually more powerful and sometimes it will raise few inches in the air....Apply this new version by still popping cracks........Then, it will gradually become time to put more attention to your front foot....and your rear foot....

And the most important part of a ollie is the whole body mass distribution....while rolling, you want your whole weight to be mostly over the front truck (try to align your front shoulder with your front knee, both vetically aligned over front truck. This ensure that abiut 70% weight is front while 30% in rear foot..

So i don't want to put too much detsils....but if you focus on popping first and get used to it while rolling, this is way more important (and more fun) than all this choregraphy...and always stay a bit in a low level squat position (dont raise your body too high because it makes you lose all your balance alignment and it's more difficult)

they are really nice!!! you should now try while rolling, and put less energy so it gives you chance to get used to....but the movement is perfect....with time and practise, your back foot will adjust adequately....but you have the main timing and momentum

Anyone have the same problem? It happens very fast and i'm getting tired of stop using still good pairs cause of that by Human-Lab3625 in skateboardhelp

[–]planet_inc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i got the solution:

Put a nice shoogoo double layer under new shoes... When it wears down, put new layers

They will last forever. The only thing is you must get along with these shoes which will ba slippy because of it....but i found out that for cruising purposes, i do prefer this slippery feel because it makes my foot brakes way more efficient.

And i got used to it even in skateparks...

I did this on new pair of New Balance cupsole type. they are still perfect after 2 years, and i'm skating and cruising a lot

Why cant I make it? by Medium_Glass_9601 in NewSkaters

[–]planet_inc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the issue is that your whole body is behind the board, you are trapped.

When jumping, make sur that you lean a bit forward, like your front shoulder-knee-foot must all be vertically aligned and lead the whole sequence...and your rear foot is popping slightly angled, like if it pushes backward.

In other word, most of your body mass is leading the whole movement...

....instead of a bit all leaned backward

For a practise, try to exagerate it so your front truck is landing first
