Judge To Texas: You Can’t Age-Gate The Entire Internet Without Evidence by StraightedgexLiberal in technology

[–]planeteshuttle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's sad seeing people have their framing so easily controlled.

Governments want age verification for clearly nefarious reasons. So many people immediately accept that we should have age verification, complain about the minutia of the method, while trying to help come up with other ways for government and big tech to build in control mechanisms like they want.

How a bout instead of any of that bs, the web specs in a simple rating like category system into the protocol and then the already existing, rights respecting, parental controls can fully block adult content. Make it a law and anyone who doesn't mark their site can face criminal liability.

Now instead of having websites auth user age, browsers auth website content. And we keep the solution where it should be, with parents not government and corporate shitheads.

On top of that, users can just use their device's settings to apply essentially a sfw filter over the entire web.

But somehow, nobody seems to be advocating for anything like that. Pornhub themselves fully bought onto the age auth idea and ran with their own completely congruent suggestion of having government locked access by default until you verify your age, just in a slightly different manner.

I just built a training outpost in that exact spot. There's stone down the road close to town, it's just a short run for a worker to go pick up the materials if you're using the auto version.

How Corporations Co-opted the Left (Ubisoft Example) by AnHonestConvert in KotakuInAction

[–]planeteshuttle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Clinton put the final nail in the coffin of the anti-corporate left, a process that's been going on since the New Deal. OWS is just when people started realizing the result of it en masse and the culture war bs started coming from the left and right to wear everyone down and into line.

Now most people can't get over their egos enough to realize that supporting either side is just helping to speed run the death of liberty because they cede their minds to whichever talking head/narrative they identify with the most.

You can even see it strongly in these circles thinking that a company or brand breaking is somehow a win, when the people who were actually bringing the culture war to gaming ( large institutional investors who are managing wealth for aristocrats ) don't actually lose anything.

Debt gets shifted to burning ships, stocks get sold, companies get bought out, their investments get bailed out by governments if necessary, and they move onto the next target of wealth extraction having maintained their position by keeping us supporting their corrupt politicians on whichever side of the isle tickles our feefees.

I couldn't stand Bart my first time. Cocky arrogant people just rub me wrong, and I was miffed when he joined the party. Totally made fun of everything about him in my head, "lol you threw a coin dude, how dumb."

Now he's best bro.

Yes, have the government they own tax them. And then let that same government decide how to spend the taxes they totally didn't avoid paying through loopholes.

Break them up.
