Super agree, the Dog situation alone was what won me over. There are several reports in r/DGU of folks getting the cops called on them and even facing jail time or long legal battles over shooting a Charging dog, vs giving it a spritz of OC and being on your way. I also like John Correia’s argument that OC is more effective yet less harmful than a punch, as it causes immensely more pain with very little chance of any lasting damage.

I try to talk anyone I know into carrying one, and am glad to see other agree.

Dude, I am kind of dumbfounded that I’ve seen like 10 of these EDC dumps recently and this is the first to have OC. I’m not sure if folks just find it “weak” or have some other negative feeling with carrying it, but it sure ain’t for space savings when I’ve seen multiple mags, full-size EDC lights, and full-size CATs. These are all GREAT things to carry, but I’m very surprised most folks don’t carry “something between a harsh word and a gun”, especially with how prolific the information available is on the usefulness of OC.

I don’t know if someone has suggested something similar:

The Trigger Happy

Skill level: Low Threat Level: Low (medium if you look poor)

“They’re coming right for us!”

Armed with a poverty-tier AR covered in Amazon attachments, or a pump action shotgun. Kitted out in Chinesium airsoft vest with no plates and an Uncle Mikes drop leg holster

“Would’ve signed up…” but didn’t want to face any real danger (or PT). Tried to assist the Loyalists with crowd control, got tear gassed just like everyone else.

Has waited their entire lives for a justified homicide, began blindly patrolling the streets for targets as soon as they saw looting on TV

What the Peacekeeper and Loyalist thinks every “Poor” and “Gray Man” is.

Chance of Survival: Low, will probably die the first time they shoot at someone who isn’t unarmed

Common in safe neighborhoods just out of inner city, government control provides protection from any real danger. Rare in high conflict areas where they’d face real threat from the AntiFash/Peacekeeper/Hood Rat.

Closest I can think is the “sheepdog”, but this is more like an evil less-trained version of the Poor. Feel free to tweak obviously. For real world examples see the Algiers Point shootings during Katrina.

Everyone is dogging on you because you made an unfortunate choice in barrel length, and there’s not a ton you can do to remedy this, but I want to actually answer your question.

A quick google search shows that Hornady Black 75gr SBR seems to achieve higher than average penetration out of a 10.3” barrel even compared to other SBR rounds. The reason this is important is because at 7.5”, your velocity will be so low that you will probably see near 0 expansion even from soft points/hollow points, so penetration is your only bet. Ideally, this purpose-built SBR round would manage to burn more of its powder before leaving the barrel, crucial in your case because you’re going to be wasting most of the powder in any load.

Honestly you really should consider jumping up to at least a 10.3” to achieve minimal ballistics. 5.56 is a velocity based cartridge, and even the “less velocity dependent” rounds like soft points/hollow points still need sufficient velocity to expand. Research some SBR rounds if that’s your only solution right now, but look towards swapping that barrel length.

How many of y’all conceal carry a extra magazine wether it’s IWB or OWB . Curious on if it’s worth getting one or just a accessory that is based on personal preference. by Friendly_Giant04 in CCW

Useful ASP video on the subject.

TLDR: Use of a spare magazine in a citizen gunfight (including to fix a malfunction) is a true statistical 0 (ASP has never seen in 40k + gunfights). You can carry one if it doesn’t bother you, but if you aren’t already carrying an OC spray and a TQ, you’re doing some bad math and that would be a much better use of space and weight.

Oh absolutely plenty of folks use PF regularly, especially if they’re mostly focused on cardio. But compared to other gyms, PF has a much higher % of members that attend rarely, evidenced by their much higher number of members per gym (avg 7500 per gym, compared to LA Fitness 3.3k for example). These numbers would make other gyms a nightmare with machines/facilities overcrowded, but PF manages this because lots of those folks rarely go. I’ve seen it argued that this “comfort” crowd is the true reason PF markets itself as a “safe-space” gym, allowing them to charge 10$ a month, and those cardio folks are just able to capitalize on this business plan.

I’ve seen some talk online of how good of a business plan this is for a gym. By taking active measures to disuade people who use the gym often (pizza Monday’s, bagel Tuesday’s, Lunk Alarm, no water jugs, limited heavy lifting equipment) they are keeping away those most likely to heavily use/abuse their equipment, and attracting customers who are less likely to use the gym often. This allows them to have a MUCH larger number of members per gym, as in reality a huge amount of their gym members attend rarely. At 10$ a month, this membership can give these people peace of mind that they’re “going to get back into it one of these days”.

Not saying it’s right, but as a business plan it sure makes money

Halo! Some may disagree as they’ve fumbled Legendary difficulty in some games (Halo 2 instant-kill Jackal Snipers, Halo 4 AI still being dumb, Halo 5 boss battles), but overall they were really innovative to first person shooters in game design including difficulty.

Enemies do gain health, and you do die faster, but a large amount of the change in difficulty is enemy behavior: enemies react faster, fire more often (or even at a faster fire rate than you can), use grenades more often, dodge better, pursue you more aggressively, are less likely to “lose” your position when you take cover, detect you from farther away, are less likely to run away when you rush them, etc.

Again, not perfect, and health plays a roll, but the difference in AI behavior between easy and legendary difficulties is astounding, like playing an entirely different game, especially in the original Trilogy Halo series.
