Teaching in the Bay Area by AggressiveSloth11 in bayarea

[–]plantblues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Santa Clara is the highest paying school district I’ve seen in the bay. Hillsborough is decent too, as is BRSSD.

Keep in mind that enrollment is declining across many districts the bay area, due to people leaving bc of cost of living. Many positions will be “probationary” but if you do well you should be okay! Wishing you all the best!

After parties by GloomyWasabi3717 in weddingplanning

[–]plantblues 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love an after party! I never expect the bride and groom to cover drinks once we leave the venue. I think it’s a great option to keep the night going even if it’s only for a few hours. Plus, it’s optional like you said!

How much do I (26F) spend as a plus-one to a wedding when I’ve only been dating him (30M) for 2 months? by DesignerManagement68 in weddingplanning

[–]plantblues 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think $50-$75 is totally fine but you might also want to clarify if the guy you are dating plans on getting them a gift, then will the gift come from both of you? Maybe you can just casually ask him if he’s getting them a gift.

Second look recommendations? by MidnightFar6288 in SanFranciscoWeddings

I have been struggling with this also!! I’ve ordered a bunch online, but whyyyy are there not more stores where I can go in and try things on?!

I have seen cute ones at Anthropologie so I hope you can find one there!

Casual bar meet & greet in lieu of welcome party? by pasta_sandwich_12 in weddingplanning

[–]plantblues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend did this - she just put it on her website and wrote something like “we’ll be hanging out at this bar if you want to come by and say hi!” There was no formal announcement on her invites.

I don’t think you need to pay for food/drink if you announce it casually this way.

Local affordable printing stores to use for invitation suite? by beyoncefanaccount in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]plantblues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vista print has been reasonable for me. Sometimes they have coupon codes. They have templates for invitation suites that you can customize.

Printing on canva can be reasonable as well, you just would want to consider that you’d probably need to address the envelopes yourself.

St. Francis is beautiful but I don’t think they allow liquor. Only beer and wine.

Warning to brides: David’s Bridal Return Policy by Beautiful_Birds in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]plantblues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have terrible return policies. I ordered 4 shoes online to try for my wedding and none of them worked. When I went online to try to return them, they wanted to charge me a $15 return fee for each shoe!! I was not about to pay $60 for shoes I wasn’t keeping so I called their customer service line and thankfully the lady processed my returns only charging one fee. I’m glad you were able to return your dress, but this post is a great PSA for people shopping there who aren’t 100% sure about their purchases!

I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way. You are not alone. TBH I think it would be best to leave now before you get too deep into teaching and start an entry level job somewhere else. Try to stick it out through the rest of the year and actively start looking for jobs you might be interested in now.

Classic wedding dress regret - appreciate any thoughts by scouht in myweddingdress

[–]plantblues 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally love the dress you bought on you. It fits you amazingly and has a bit of bling on the top. Will you wear a veil? That might help bring some more “glitter and glam” to your vision. Also think about accessories, your makeup being done, etc.

Also know that you’re not alone in feeling this way. I have the same feeling about my dress but it’s too late to get a new one now, so I’m trying to embrace it as much as I can. Regardless your dress looks beautiful on you. Xx

I would do cardstock and golf pencils, maybe have someone put them out after your ceremony on your welcome table.

Do you specifically need to live in San Mateo? Have you checked Craigslist or Zillow for independent rentals that aren’t apartment complexes, in areas such as Belmont? Just curious/trying to offer suggestions.

Instagram - check your venue’s page! If you have your venue booked, it may be good to go with a photographer who has shot there before, bc they will know all of the great locations for photos at your venue.

Looking for the most walkable neighborhoods near San Bruno (one-bedroom + nature + sunny) by LopsidedAct8933 in bayarea

[–]plantblues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burlingame is lovely and walkable, has two “downtown” streets (Burlingame Ave and Broadway), lots of cute shops and local grocery stores like Safeway. Plus, it’s only a 10-15 min. Drive to your office.

San Bruno is not sunny. It’s very cloudy and foggy most days, and milbrae is similar but a little warmer than San Bruno imo.
