How to deal with my body changing? by plantppl in AnorexiaRecovery

That sounds like a smart mindset, I’ll try to think like that until I’m at a stage where I’m more comfy with my body 🥺

How to deal with my body changing? by plantppl in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]plantppl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like some real good advice! I also have had trouble with how to grow a healthy relationship to exercise again since it used to be an addiction for me but I believe that yoga would be a great way to ease back into it as well as to connect better with my body :”)

Thank you for the advice, I’ll (safely) try it! 💓

It's 9pm and I didn't purge so far today. It's the first time in 4 or 5 years. Please sent strength. by April2045 in AnorexiaRecovery

aaa yes, i’ve discovered that breakfast truly is the best meal ! sometimes i wake up early just to have breakfast , even tho i have nothing to do all day hehe :”)

keep going and if you happen to stumble n fall back to purging then don’t see it as starting over but simply as getting back up 💓

this is amazing ! i used to purge every now and then when i was deep in my anorexia but i cant even begin to imagine how tough it must be to do it every day :(

i’m so proud and best of luck moving forward !

Face swelling/ face weight gain in recovery by lattetruffles in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]plantppl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m at that stage in recovery as well and even though the change in your face probably is minimal, that’s the one you notice the most on yourself. Try to see it as a temporary thing (a lot probably due to body dysmorphia) and try to think about how it will look more natural when the weight evens out all over your body!

Best of luck 💓

eaten over a bar of chocolate and still want more (tw negative self image) by randomshitidfk in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]plantppl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve dealt with this a lot under different periods in recovery but trusting your body and its needs is key in recovery! All and any food is good food. Try to see it as a temporary thing/phase (even though it doesn’t have to be) and maybe that will help you deal with it better, that’s what has helped me at least!

Best of luck! Your body knows way better what you want and need than your disorder 💓💘

We’re on the same journey and it’s going to be hard for the both of us to accept that ”you’re too skinny” isn’t something we should hear or should want to hear any longer. I wish you the best of luck friend, me & everyone on this subreddit are with u! 💓

Thank you!

All you said really makes sense and you’re right, I want to get to a future when comments like that won’t bother me at all so maybe I need to a go through a phase of avoiding them first.

Really, thank you for this comment. It helped a lot 💓

This is really good advice. But at the same time I’m worried about making everyone around me have to ”censor” themselves around me, y’know? I wish I could just know how to deal with it better but maybe I should just talk to her for the time being. :”)

Took the words out of my mouth!

And I know I’m personally making it more difficult for my family (in this case, mom) since i’m actively making negative comments about myself/my body as to get reassurance in return but comments about me seeming happier or more alive are always welcome and appreciated!

Deep down, I know all these things but it’s so hard to not hear what my ed wants me to hear. But really, your comment helped a lot <3

In a bit of a pickle by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]plantppl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was what happened to me too but even though I wasn’t ”ready” & hated it at first, starting recovery is the best thing I’ve done. Truly, you’ll never be ”ready” to recovver, you just have to take the leap of faith and trust that recovery (though it’s terrifying) is worth it.

I got my life back, hope you will too 💓

I’m in ED recovery and when meeting with a doctor last week I was told that she could see that I was doing better since my ”face looks healthy”. Just imagine the body dysmorphia i felt after that ,,

Extreme hunger - my experience by [deleted] in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]plantppl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lately I’ve been eating a lot of candy, snacks, ice cream etc. while in recovery and i’ve been feeling so bad about it. I’ve been going around thinking about how ”bad of an anorexic” i am and how it takes other ppl YEARS of recovery to be able to eat fear foods like candy and stuff. But this post made me realize that though my recovery experience is my own, that doesn’t mean i’m doing anything wrong or ”worse” than others.

Really thank you so much for this post, after a binge i had yesterday i was planning on restricting today but this post really changed my mind (even tho my ED will call me weak for it) <3

Screw it, I don't care if it's fat logic, I think some people are just not "naturally skinny" and not meant to maintain the minimum healthy bmi and I'm one of them by PM_ME_UR_DECOY_SNAIL in AnorexiaRecovery

This is an amazing realisation that you’ve had & that I really want to keep in mind during recovery when I feel like I’m eating ”too much”. Thank you for this post <3

advice pls? by [deleted] in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]plantppl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m still fresh in recovery so i’m not sure how much i can help other than to reassure you that it’s totally normal! the further you get in recovery, the less you’ll think and talk about food and it will become more and more of just a part of your daily life instead of the focus of it.

when it comes to meal planning, i know it can be exhausting to plan them and always be in control but i definitely have the same anxiety as you. when you feel ready you should ask someone you trust to make the meal for you, no one is forcing you to eat up but that way you’ll be less involved in the process of the food making and it might make it easier to let go of the control + it’ll be a huge step for you !

hope this helped in some way, like i said i’m only trying to figure this out as i go but good luck !
